Paint with a Purpose
Funded Aug 14, 2024Thank you for helping us paint with a purpose as your donation allowed for my kindergartners to use various painting supplies to enhance their learning in many ways.
Art can be an important outlet in developing creativity, communication, and problem solving of which are essential to early learning success. Having a Painting Center has supported not only their academics but also has strengthened their fine motor skills. Their imagination and self-expression have boosted their confidence and emotional well-being.”

Funded Oct 25, 2023Thank you for helping us create "mind blowing" experiences for learning by using Brain Pop, Jr. Your contribution allowed for my students to explore topics in a kid friendly way without concerns about ads or commercials when searching on YouTube. It is a valuable resource to supplement curriculum across all subject areas, especially Social Studies and Science where nonfiction texts are hard to find on a kindergarten level of understanding. Students had fun learning and stayed engaged with the beloved characters, Annie and Moby!”

Funded Jan 4, 2024Thanks to your contribution, my students became botanists as they researched, observed, and determined patterns that explain how living things live and grow. We were able to integrate our reading unit with our science standards on living and non-living things and used real -life plants of various kinds to observe and study. This helped my students to be able to touch, to feel the textures, see the bright colors, and smell the fragrances where they would not be able to if using just plant photos. They were so excited to use real plants which increased their love for learning!”

Funded Aug 22, 2023Thank you again for your donation to purchase a color printer and ink cartridges for my class. We have been creating lots of colorful games for centers and small group work. The printable materials used allow for students to be more engaged and become independent workers. Students are more focused not only because of the details but the materials are pleasant to the eye. As the school year progresses, we will be able to print out student work such as for publishing books they make. Many activities will allow students to search for specific things and decide which image to print to add to their writing.”

Funded Aug 12, 2023Thank you again for your donation to my class for the purchase of Scholastic's Let's Find Out! magazine. We have been learning so much from this resource and able to utilize it across all subject areas. As school started, we were able to incorporate some our Social Studies citizenship standards by learning about following rules, showing respect by listening, and being responsible by completing class work. As fall began, we integrated Math and Science standards when learning about various fall related things such as apples, leaves, and pumpkins. Learning about how we use our five senses was a great way to explore fall attributes such as tasting and graphing our favorite apple (red, green, yellow). The photos shared show students learning about how animals say hello. This fit in with our Morning Circle for SEL (Social Emotional Learning) lessons and a new way to greet each other. I also extended the booklets, using in a reading group because it had the high frequency words we have been learning and word pattern. We can not wait to see what is we'll be learning next!”

Star Students
Funded Aug 18, 2022Thanks again for your support and donating funds to purchase various materials for the classroom such as magnetic letters, writing journals, headphones, and building emotions with Legos. We use them daily to supplement the curriculum in all subject areas.
Students enjoy using the Legos to express their emotions and is a great way to self-regulate through play. They use the headphones daily working on their iPads to support math and reading skills on various web sites. They are now building words using magnetic letters and continues to strengthen writing skills while writing in their journals.”

Becoming Learning Detectives!
Funded Aug 3, 2022Thank you again for your support and donating funds to purchase Scholastic's Let's Find Out magazine for each student. We use them weekly to supplement Social Studies and Science concepts but it also supports reading and math skills.
Students enjoy reading and learning about these concepts in this easy nonfiction reader. They also enjoy the interactive component that offers video clips and games that support the concepts taught. Families are also able to participate with family access to all the magazines, games, and videos.
We have been able to extend our learning Let's Find Out! in writing, creating various projects and bulletin boards such as shared in the photos.”

Take Home Books in Español
Funded Aug 9, 2022Thanks again for your support and donating funds to purchase Spanish and Bilingual books for students to take home. My Spanish speaking families could not read with their child as a part of their required nightly reading because they can not speak or read the English take home books I have. With your donation, I've been able to send books home for everyone!
I have had families say how much they appreciate me providing these books so their child can participate in the nightly reading assignments. Since basic concepts about print and comprehension are universal, no matter the language, students are able to continue practicing and utilizing these skills as their families read to them.”

Funded Jan 20, 2022Thank you so much for your support and donations for my "Listen Up!" project. We received the headphones just in time for the MOY (Middle of the Year assessments) in January. It was very helpful to have a class set so that everyone can work on their iPad to complete the assessments at the same time. We also use them daily for other resources on the iPad such as for reading and math. Students are able to stay focused better with the headphones.
We had a mishap with shipping for the Listening Centers headphones and jack set, not getting them until after spring break. However, we are using the set daily in our centers as students pick out books to read and listen to. They enjoy the listening center because it's quiet, it allows for all levels of reading, and they can focus on the stories better with minimal distractions.
I have been trying to teach these rising first graders how to "tune in" and listen better to help stay focused during class instruction. One student chimed in and said "like when we have our headphones on!"”
