  • Apush With Amsco

    Funded Oct 1, 2024

Describing my students appreciation for you donation is not that hard. My students are very thankful that you cared enough to donate to their academic success. It may seem like something small; however, you showed that you want them to do well and it makes a tremendous difference.

Most of my students are first generation Americans who are attempting to be the first ones in their families to attend college. Your donation is giving them a boost for both early graduation and college success. I appreciate that my students are able to benifit from your care.”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Nathan

  • A Push for APUSH

    Funded Nov 28, 2023

    You are truly generous.

My students are struggling with a six-credit college class. They do not know how to absorb the vast amount of content required while learning how to apply historical thinking skills. The flashcards you donated empower my students to try to absorb the intense amount they need to earn college credit.

Further, you encouraged my students. My students know they have support from people who care about their success. It may seem like a simple donation but they took it as a huge act of kindness. Your donation was a hug from afar.”

  • APUSH Study Skills

    Funded Oct 25, 2021

Some things in life seem small. Nothing is small. Your donation falls into a category of its own.

You cannot begin to fathom the look on my students' faces when I handed out the ringed index cards. The incredulous looks on their faces was priceless. They could not believe that someone cared enough to help them in this fashion. They promptly took the cards and started organizing information that they needed to study for the next quiz. The pride on their faces as they started to work was priceless.

Your contribution let my students know that people out there genuinely care about their success. For that I can only express my deepest gratitude.

    Thank you!”

  • A PUSH to Student Success

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

Where do I begin? How do I thank you for empowering my students?

We came back into the brick-and-mortar classroom with quite a few unknowns. Students struggled with in-person expectations, while pleasantly surprising themselves with the tools they acquired during eighteen months of remote learning. The biggest hurdle students faced (and are facing) is the return to traditional learning expectations. Reading endless piles of text on their own time, as expected in a traditional college level class, albeit in high school, is not a strong skill in their toolbox (as of yet.)

Your kind donation helped students empower themselves with study skills they are sorely lacking. Your generosity provided books to help my students help themselves with crucial supports for an Advanced Placement class. We are very grateful.”

  • A Crucial Remote Resource

    Funded Jan 1, 2021

    I salute your generosity.

My students are frightened a frustrated at the same time. Frightened by the Covid-19 Pandemic that just keeps growing around them, and frustrated with their attempt to succeed in high school while in a remote environment. School presents new challenges every day, and your donation helped allay their frustrations.

Your donation provided reassurance that someone out there cares about their current challenges, and was willing to go the extra mile for them. Your kindness made them feel that there are people who want them to succeed.

We cannot lessen the fears that accompany our current crisis. Your help sends a clear message that you care about my students' frustrations with remote learning. It may seem small, but I will say the simplest thing possible. Thank you.”

  • Equity for Remote Learning

    Funded Oct 27, 2020

I pen this letter on the day that NYCDOE went fully remote due to rising COVID-19 infection rates. I have quite a few frustrated students; however, you have made their frustrations with remote learning that much less. Your donation of webcams for students who have issues with their webcams demonstrates to my students that someone out there cares. That someone is you, and for that, I am very appreciative.

Students miss the socialization that remote learning sorely lacks. The lack of cameras makes students feel like anonymous cogs in the system, and they cannot see their friends. Webcams, although they may seem like a trivial donation, make my students feel like they have a tiny drop of socialization they really miss.

    Thank you for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

  • A New Push in the Right Direction

    Funded Dec 18, 2018

    Wow.

My students had the funniest reaction when I told them that the Crash Course books were funded by your generosity. "What? We don't have to figure out how to buy those books ourselves?" They had genuine appreciation on their face when I explained that there are people who care about their success in Advanced Placement United States History. They eagerly opened the books and started to figure out what part of the book they should use first.

Your thoughtfulness reminded my students that their struggle for college credit is not a solo quest. They have supporters who want them to succeed in their endeavors. Thank you for giving them that pat on the back!”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Nathan

  • Dance for Me!

    Funded Mar 9, 2016

We attempted to create a dance-a-thon to fund raise with our students. We tried to launch the the event on six (!) different occasions, and every time was another problem. The students were gratified that you cared enough to try to fund the event. It was nice to know that you acknowledged their struggle, even if the grand event was not a success.

The shirts were used for smaller dance events to help raise money for the school, on a smaller level, and not the grand project we envisioned. We still have some shirts left and hope to use them to help students raise money for other school functions they cannot afford. Our student population struggles to afford things and your help makes a difference.

I learned that grand projects are possible; however, we cannot always achieve them. The realities of helping students is quite a struggle. Your help is encouraging.”

  • A Cooler Class

    Funded Aug 24, 2015

The addition of fans in our fourth floor room has been a required resource

that we were no able to attain. The new fans were a material that the students have

expressed their grievances about numerous times. The fourth floor rooms in our

school tend to be the hottest and high in humidity, so the donation of fans was well

appreciated. The students were ecstatic about the fans because they were able to be

more comfortable during class. The additional fans were also a surprise for many of

the students because of how long they have been complaining about the lack of

them. The students are also now able to focus on lessons rather than focusing on the

heat. You have really helped cool down the room.

    It is really appreciated!”

  • A Constitution Challenge

    Funded Aug 29, 2014

As mentioned in my request, my students are quite a crew of characters who genuinely care for each other. No matter what the learning or language challenge, they are always there for each other.

It really encourages students when they know that there are people who want to help them learn. The texts are available to them when they work in their groups to analyze things as well as when they need to interpret things on their own. When they have to delve into the text of the Constitution, the lucid explanations that are available help their understanding and encourage them to utilize the text rather than fear it.

Your donation empowers ALL of my students.

    Thank you!”

My students are wonderful characters as you can see from their picture...albeit their faces cannot be shown for legal reasons. We are a small public high school in New York with about 550 students. We are unique because we are a full inclusion school meaning our students with special needs are fully integrated into all of our classes. Our population includes many students who are English Language Learners or former English Language Learners. Students really care about each other and have interactions that are pretty rare in any school. Our school size makes it very tough to offer advanced classes. Some students take the challenge of Advanced Placement United States History. Their success usually leads them to take the one or two other Advanced Placement Classes the school offers.
