  • Downgraded: From Pandemic to the Common Cold

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you for supporting our project and helping to keep us all in good attendance. While Covid has been mitigated at this time, Influenza is rampant. We are glad to have a staunch supply of tissues and cleaning supplies. We try to wipe down the desks with the Lysol wipes at the end of each day. We keep the floor clean, too, so that our breakfast crumbs don't attract any visitors. So far, 2023 has shown good health and good attendance, so we hope to maintain that record and stay healthy into spring. Your support was a crucial element in helping us move toward that goal. Thanks again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. White

  • Aesthetic Atmosphere

    Funded Mar 19, 2022

We are grateful for our new resources. We use them to liven up our room with inspirational quotes and colorful posters.

When they first saw the materials, the students were surprised that we got so much. They think it is neat that sometimes people who do not know us buy us things for our classroom.

We like variety and changing up our surroundings so our next step is to acquire other items in order to be able to switch things out from time to time.

Donors are a blessing - we are so grateful for these new items.”

    Mrs. White

  • Clean Reading

    Funded Nov 30, 2021

You really came through for us once again. We received all of the cleaning supplies, the fans, and the treats that you donated to our classroom.

On Fridays, we have a treat, a lollipop, to enjoy while we work. Those boxes will last us several months!

We put our two new oscillating fans in our storage closet for the spring because our classroom has cooled down this time of year.

Our teacher spends time mid-day and after school keeping the desks wiped and all the things we touch clean. It is important that we be in school each day to learn, so staying healthy is imperative.”

  • Pleasant Productivity

    Funded Jul 20, 2021

Thank you very much for your valuable contribution to our project. We are excited to get out of our seats and return to group work after our years of quarantining and social distancing. Our dry erase dots are hanging about the room for us to record discussion responses in a hands-on way. We got to film a few mini-trailers for a story that we read using the class iPad. These materials are only available to us because of generous donors like you. We are always thankful when we use them and quick to remember your kindness.”

  • Decorating the Decades

    Funded Jul 20, 2021

Thank you for your generosity in helping to make this project come to fruition. We will be starting the 1920's after holiday break this year, and I cannot wait to decorate the room for the decade. The kids really enjoy the visuals to help them set the timeframe for our readings. The Great Gatsby will certainly come alive as will the Jazz age. It is nice to get back into the swing of things after the years of quarantining and knowing that there is public support makes it even nicer. We always think of our donors fondly when enjoying all of our new things!”

  • Inviting Atmosphere

    Funded Nov 20, 2020

Your generous donations kept the faith alive during the somber months of the pandemic. Kids not being able to attend school in-person or participate in some extra-curricular activities was a real bummer. Knowing that we would have an inviting place to come together when we finally return in person was a comfort.

The wipes will keep the room clean while the heaters take off the winter chill. We love to use floor lamps instead of overhead lights, so the addition of one more makes our room complete.

We hope to be back in person in time to take some photos to share with you.

Thank you for funding our project!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. White

  • In Our Comfort Zone

    Funded Oct 22, 2020

We are so lucky to have generous people like you all in our lives. The materials that we received from this project will last for years!

Because of Covid, we haven't gotten to use the earbuds, but the lamp is coming in handy.

I have been able to sit in a comfortable, dimly lit room and communicate with the class on Google Meet. I showed them the books that we received to grow our classroom library. Some of them even asked me to read the back cover so they could decide whether or not it appealed to them.

When they return to in-person learning in a few weeks, we will try to get some photos of them borrowing the books. In the end, we will be reading A Raisin in the Sin in ENG11 Honors. I am excited to tackle a different drama with my class this year.

Thank you all for making this happen!”

  • Reimagining Gatsby

    Funded May 5, 2020

Thank you again for the class set of the graphic novel version of The Great Gatsby. In my classroom, we read novels from American authors that relate to the theme of the American Dream. Being able to make connections and being able to use skills like comparing and contrasting to do so are important skills of this learning level. In my classroom, we have a class set of Gatsby, a class set of the novel Great (a contemporary version of the classic), and now this graphic version. My students have the materials they need to make connections from text-to-text and also to the real world. This is invaluable and we are lucky to have these things.”

  • Transcendental Connections

    Funded Aug 21, 2019

Our "field trip" to Falling Waters was a success thanks to the app on our new class ipad. Studying transcendentalism and the idea of simplicity left us with ideas including tiny houses, life in the woods, and becoming one with nature. Because a field trip to Frank Lloyd Wright's actual architectural masterpiece was unrealistic, we explored the option of a virtual one. With the app being an apple one, we needed this ipad in order to explore the house. Thanks to your generosity, our studies took on this added dimension. We are so very grateful.”

  • Reading, Writing and Making Connections

    Funded Aug 21, 2019

It is nice to sometimes have little lessons that facilitate our big themes. As a veteran teacher, I have quite a collection to choose from; however, many teachers share their innovative lessons so that we can all benefit from them. This project completion provided our class with many new lessons to use in our classroom. We also got some new sharpies and felt pens along with scissors so that when we express ourselves creatively, we have the proper supplies. Thanks to your generosity, we have an enlivened learning environment. Thank you so much!”

My students are 10th grade language arts and literature learners who try their best each day. They work on writing skills, grammar, spelling, and technology. We try group work and hands-on learning and are never hesitant to shake up the norm. They are excitable and deserve a place to showcase all the good things that they do. All toooften, the easier place to focus is the negative and I would like to help them turn that around.
