  • Brain Games: Fun Yet Challenging!

    Funded Jul 12, 2019

Thank you so much for your generosity. My students are loving all the mind challenging games and puzzles. It is unbelievable how much faster they are getting when they are playing these games. The strategies they are developing are helping them with their actual academic work.

Their confidence is soaring, communication skills are improving and they are having so much fun. Without your compassion, none of these things would be happening. My students and I are so grateful.

I love seeing them have fun and learn without them even realizing it.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Muller

  • Will the Small Group Please Sit Down, Please Sit Down!

    Funded Feb 9, 2019

Thank you so much for your generosity. My students are loving the stools and I am loving the fact that they do not have to drag their chairs all around the classroom when we are doing group work. They ask to use them all the time, even when not doing small group work. The students even love to use the stools while sitting at their desks and I like that it forces them to have proper posture. The bright colors brighten up my classroom, making the room more cheerful.

Receiving these stool have also opened my students eyes to the idea that there are many giving people in this world.”

  • Schools Not Out Yet, But Supplies Are!

    Funded Aug 28, 2018

Thank you so much for your generous donations of schools supplies. The students were so excited to see all the markers, pens, pencils and paper. With all these resources they are able to make their pictures so colorful and are able to create beautiful invitations to invite their families to our classroom celebrations.

I am not sure who was more excited them or me!? Getting all these wonderful supplies was encouraging to create lessons that needed these supplies. My students love to color and draw and I love creating posters for them to use as resources in class. Having enough ink and paper for the printer enables me to properly differentiate and meet all my students academic needs. I have also been able to print lots of academic based games in math and phonics and then laminate so they can play in small groups to strengthen their skills.

A surplus of dry erase markers make whole group, small group and individual instruction a joy. The kids enjoy using the markers and boards which makes learning fun.”

  • Let's Read All About It!

    Funded Dec 31, 2017

Thank you so much for your generous donation to my project. My students are truly enjoying all the issues and all the benefits that come with a Scholastic News subscription. They are learning so much! If it wasn't for you they would not be exposed to all these non-fiction issues and activities.

Along with the monthly subscription we have access to online games, which the students love playing. They do not even realize that when they play the games they are building they comprehension skills. There is also access to videos connected to each topic within the monthly subscription. Watching the videos gives the students a better understanding of the topic. For the students that struggle with creating metal images of what has been read, the videos provide a deeper understanding. Then there are also the printable pages. These pages help the students strengthen specific skills within reading, like main idea and details. Besides strengthening their reading skills, they are also strengthening their writing skills.

We are truly grateful for you!”

  • iCan Learn with the Help from iPads

    Funded Mar 9, 2016

Thank you very much for funding my project, iCan Learn with the Help from iPads. My students and I were so excited and now they are able to independently practice their skills in ELA and math while I work one-on-one with another student in the group. The students I service range in age/grade from Kindergarten to 8th grade and have varied skilled levels. There are many times when it is necessary for me to work one-on-one with a student and it is necessary for the other students to be engaged in something completely different academically. Having the iPads gives the students a way to be engaged in academic based practice and provides a different way to practice independently.

There are numerous apps that have been downloaded onto the iPads for the students to use for independent practice. They think they are playing a game and not improving their skills. In ELA the students can practice sight word recognition, spelling and reading/listening comprehension. In math they are able to increase their operational fluency (adding/subtracting/multiplying and dividing). They are also able to practice solving number stories/word problems, creating/finishing patterns. There are endless ways for the students to increase their academic abilities.

The last way my students are able to use the iPads is by doing research. My middle school students often have to complete research on a specific topic and then write about it. Having the ipads gives each student individual access to the Internet, without having to wait for a computer.

Due to your generosity my students are able to have another fun way to practice the skills they struggle with. We are all very appreciative of you.”

  • Resources for the Resource Room!!!

    Funded Feb 3, 2015

Thank you so much for your generosity, it is greatly appreciated. My students loved all the materials we received, even more than I did! They were excited to have many ways to help them practice the skills they have learned in class. They also enjoyed the non fiction ready activities as they have never read about many of those topics. However, I think the best part of your donations was giving the students the ability to print their research papers and add great pictures they found online to support their research for their presentation posters. Being able to print pictures enabled them to fee proud of the they work they handed in.

    Thank you very much!!!”

  • Help Us Save Some Trees!

    Funded Dec 10, 2013

Thank you so much for the dry erase boards, markers and dry erase pockets. The students are so excited to have a different way to complete class assignments and play educational games. They love using the dry erase boards to solve problems quickly and show it to their classmates then erase and solve a new one. The students are developing their multiplication and division skills because of the quick practice we have been doing on the boards. I love that I can make small amount of copies of a math board game, slip it into the pockets and the students can play a round. Then they can erase and play again. This is saving so much paper. We are so appreciative of these supplies and think of you every time we use them.”

  • Learning Science is Fun!

    Funded May 4, 2009

Thank you so much for all the great science materials! The caterpillars, notebooks, blow up example of the butterfly life cycle, life size models of the tadpole life cycle and the tadpoles.

The students were so excited to receive them and see hands-on the life cycle of a tadpole and a butterfly. The idea of each of them having their 'own' caterpillars was so exciting to them. They were able to set up the cups, and watch them get bigger, change into the cryslis and then finally into a butterfly. They felt empowered having their own caterpillar/butterfly. They really grasped the concept of a metamorphosis and were actually teaching it to students in other classes. They also asked for other classes to come into our room and we what we are learning.

This is an experience they will never forget!”
