  • Super Supplies

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

Thank you so much for your incredibly generous donations to our classroom. We have received a variety of supplies that we plan to use this year. Ink is always something that we go through very quickly because of how many bright and colorful materials we print to go around our room for the students such as vocabulary cards and materials for charts. This helps to make our classroom exciting, engaging and helpful for the students. We also added materials such as white out for the teachers and students to use while correcting and editing work in the classroom. My co-teacher and I love to add stickers to our prize bin and also use them on tests to celebrate a job well done. We are so excited to use these throughout the year to motivate our students to do their best work. Everything that has been donated is greatly appreciated and is always put to great use!

We wouldn't be able to have so many nice materials without your help!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Connors

  • Loving Language

    Funded Oct 6, 2023

Thank you so much for your incredibly generous donations. The students in our class were so excited to receive these materials so that they can learn and grow in their new language. In these texts, there are a lot of pictures and vocabulary that are interactive and helpful for acquiring a new language. They are able to use these books throughout the day to help with their reading comprehension, writing, and in conversation.

In our classroom, students are expected to read for longer periods of time to build their stamina. These books allow our ENL students to also enjoy and understand reading so that they are able to build upon their stamina as well. These students love to look up words and practice using them throughout the day! We are so excited to see how they will continue to use these throughout the rest of the year, too!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Connors

  • Rocking & Bouncing Into 3rd Grade!

    Funded Dec 1, 2022

Thank you again for the kind and generous donations made to my classroom. My students are loving their new resources! Flexible seating was really important to me this year because of the strong need of students to move their bodies. Some of them need to move for focus, for stimulation, and even for energy! The ball chairs are a great addition to the room and students are sharing them daily. This is also true for the wobble chairs! The wooden tables are great for group work, as well as for students who sit in the back of the room and need to come closer to see something on the board. My students were so excited to see the new materials and were eager to know when their turn would be! We can't wait to continue to use these materials throughout the year to improve upon our learning! They really help to create a flexible and open environment in the classroom for my students. We are so lucky!”

  • Safari School Supplies

    Funded Sep 23, 2021

Thank you SO much for your very generous contribution to our project. My students were filled to the brim with excitement when the packages began to arrive. They are doing amazing with the new resources. The most important resource we have received is definitely the classwork notebooks. The kids use these notebooks each day to complete their sight word/letter/word family work. These notebooks are perfect for them because they give them thick lines to practice forming their letters on, as well as a big space at the top of the page to draw labeled pictures and illustrate their words.

They also received supply bins and color-coordinated folders to help them with organization. Because of these tools, my kindergarten students have a place for everything. They are learning to be very responsible for their belongings. They keep all of their art supplies in their supply bins that they take out and put away. They also keep their classwork organized by subject in their folders.

Finally, the cleaning supplies speak for themselves in keeping our classroom a safe and happy place to learn. We can't thank you enough for your generosity at this time.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Connors

  • Stapling, Filing, and Organizing

    Funded Dec 31, 2019

Thank you so much for the amazing generosity you have put forward to help my classroom. These materials have already began to help the students with their organization, as well as our ability to display their hard work and efforts around the school.

The staplers we have received allow us to have a specific tool for stapling packets together and also have specific tools for stapling to bulletin boards. Mounting essays and projects has caused a lot of our staplers to break in the past. The other materials, such as the file folders and storage materials have greatly aided the organization and appearance of our classroom. We do not have much space in the room for storage. Now, we have multiple bins for each student to keep their work portfolios. This has been so helpful already, and makes filing so much easier!

These materials have already made our classroom environment a much more organized, neat, and attractive place. It really is the little things sometimes that tie it all together! Once again, your contribution means so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Connors

  • Set My Kinder Kids on Fire!

    Funded Feb 9, 2019

Our Kindergarten classroom is filled to the brim with joy over our new Amazon Fire Kids Edition Tablets. We were lucky enough to have four donated and we are able to use them each and every day we are in school. Many of the generous donors have technology that they use at home, but maybe are not aware of the impact it has had on these children in just a few months.

The students of K-103 are able to use these tablets during Guided Reading time. This is really a time for students to work independently to target some important skills while I am working alongside a group. These skills can include sight word acquisition, reading strategies, handwriting, independent reading, and more. We originally had three stations that the students would rotate to while I worked with a group. However, now, we have our Tablet Station. The tablets allow the students to go on Raz Kids, a program where they can read books and answer comprehension questions once they have completed them. They can also listen to a story being read as well. The books on Raz Kids are all leveled as well, so they are appropriate for the reading level of each student.

By having these tablets in our classroom, the students have become so eager to read. I see the progress that they are making in their reading and speaking so much lately as everything they have learned so far is beginning to kick in. The students hope that they will be in the tablet group each day because it has become their favorite. For students that practice going on Raz Kids at home, they continue this in class. However, for students that do not practice at home, they are now given the opportunity to read enjoyable books on their level to help them grow as readers. Some students have even begun to use Raz Kids at home now because they enjoyed it so much in class.

As a first year teacher and with this being my first funded project on Donors Choose, I am so incredibly grateful to now have this helpful and interactive technology in our classroom. Technology provides students with a very engaging way of learning that they are excited about. When students are excited about reading and learning, it improves the environment of our classroom and makes our lessons much more interesting. Learning should be new and fun for students each day and with the introduction of these tablets into K-103, it really has been. I look forward to seeing what else we will use them for in the near future!

Thank you so much from K-103!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Connors

I am requesting four Amazon Kids Edition Fire Tablets for my kindergarten classroom. During guided reading time, students break into groups to work on specific reading strategies. These Fire Tablets would be very helpful for students to work in small groups on Raz Kids. This will allow them to independently target specific skills that we are studying. Learning through technology is the currently accepted practice. It makes learning more engaging for students who are technology natives. There are many apps that they can use to build specific skills, including text-to-speech for students who are not native English speakers or for students who are struggling with sight words. Thank you for your consideration in helping my students.
