Popcorn Please
Funded Dec 5, 2019Thank you for the kind donation of the funding needed to make this project a reality. It is your kindness and generosity that helps improve school life for many students and staff.
The day of delivery was full of mixed emotions for my students. They were aware of the popcorn machine as we were following the shipping tracking throughout the day. Joy and excitement turned into a bit of frustration as the package, they were so eagerly waiting for, was delivered at dismissal time. I told the students we would unbox it the next morning.
As the students came in the next day the first question they asked was when can they open the box. As you can see from the photos, the excitement they had when opening it. That day everyone had popcorn.
The Machine is now set up for our students who have earned their Positive Points to trade in for popcorn.”

Funded Oct 25, 2019This morning, (Wednesday) was the first time we were able to use some of the supplies you have provided us. My students started to make breakfast consisting of waffles and eggs. Out of the supplies you gave us, we were able to use the mixing bowls, wisk, and the induction stove and frying pan for the first time. While cooking with our students, they were sharing recipes and how they cook the same things at home or how they make breakfast differently.
On Friday, we are looking forward to using the oven you have provided us with and baking a cake. My students are now researching for various recipes that we would like to try and make.”

Funded Oct 27, 2019Thank you for your generous gift of the basketball and footballs for my students. As you are able to seen in the unboxing photos we took the students were very excited and surprised by the equipment. Their reactions are genuine as I did not tell them ahead of time what was coming.
As I am currently sitting in my classroom writing this letter, I am able to hear my students playing basketball and football in the yard, enjoying your gift to them. Some of my students are new to these sports and are being shown how to play by some of the more experienced players.
I even have one student who is currently practicing her layup drills that were given to her by her weekend coach.
My current and future students as well as myself, greatly thank you for your generosity.”

Funded Dec 19, 2018Thank you for the kind donation of thirty dictionaries to my classroom. These dictionaries will be used to build vocabulary, spelling, and dictionary skills. we now have enough dictionaries for the students to each have their own individual copies which will also improve the quality as the students will not be rushing to finish due to sharing.
These dictionaries will help hundreds of students this year and thousands over the next few years and the life of the dictionaries. We greatly appreciate your generosity toward students whom you will never meet.
Thank you.”

Got the Rebound!
Funded May 24, 2017Thank you for the generous donation of the backboards. When they were delivered to my classroom many of the students were surprised as they did not know we were getting them. As we unboxed them in class, the students excitement was tangible. The hardest part for them was knowing that they will have to wait a bit longer for backboard to be installed before they can be used.
They are eagerly looking forward to the next couple of weeks, as that is our expected date for the installation and first class basketball tournament.”

Get Out and Play
Funded Feb 21, 2017Thank you for the generous donation of basketballs, footballs, and Frisbees to our school. The students did not know that we had this donated until I had them unbox the "surprise schools materials" They were very happy to see that they were top line equipment and could not wait until their lunch breaks to be able to used the gear.
We were very lucky that the weather was nice and the students started a basketball game in the center of the play area with the football and Frisbees being used on the side lines.
We are now working on scheduling a field day at a large local park so the students can really cut loose with the football and frisbees.
Thank you for your support in helping my students get out and play.”

Funded Dec 31, 2016Thank you for the donation of the binders. When the students were first given the binders they were able to transfer their classwork from a simple folder, where they would loose work because it would always fall out, to a permanent home, they were happy about it. Now all of my students are issued a binder as they join my class. We no longer worry about mixing up students work or lost work because it fell out of the folders. Students also like the fact that they are able to personalize the binders with cover pages that they have designed on their own.
Once again, thank you for helping me teach my students better organization skills through use of the binders. They will help many students over the years as they pass through my classroom.”

Walking Through History With Modern Technology
Funded May 6, 2014The students love the GPS's, when I first took them out of the boxes they asked if they were real and do they get to use them. When I responded that they would, they all cheered. They are excited to use the new technology and it will bring a new level of excitement to the classes.
The first day they used them was in class, just to play with them with no tasks or focus, only to explore the menus and how the controls work. Day two, they learned how to input way points to find, and then we went out into the neighborhood to locate the point that was given. Today, we are linking technology with the Common Core Writing Standards, they will be writing an instruction manual to entering way points. In the coming weeks they will be linking writing, but researching historic locations and using the GPS's to get there, finally writing a summary combining their initial research and what the findings were at the actual location.
This protect has boosted the students excitement about learning because they were able to use technology to link History and English Writing skills with actual real world locations that they were able to visit.”
