  • Waffle Wednesdays!

    Funded Oct 12, 2023

Thank you so much for funding the Waffle Wednesday project! When the students heard that it was happening they were so excited. We kicked off this morning with freshly made, hot, homemade waffles. As a result, more of my students came to school on time to get the waffles, and as the day progressed, not as many students complained about being hungry. The students who complained said they would come earlier next time so they could also have waffles.

Another thing that I noticed was the students who did have the waffles stayed focused and on task longer. Thank you for giving my students the energy to stay on task.”

  • Charge Me Up!

    Funded Sep 24, 2023

Thank you so much for helping power up my class with the USB charging Hub. My students did the unboxing today, when they opened the the box they were not exactly sure what they were looking at so I asked them how many devices does their family have at home that need to be charged. The answers ranged with the top being about 12 devices. So I asked them where to they plug them all in and the response was where ever they can find an empty outlet that they can fit the cube into.

So after they helped me partially set up the first charging station they understood, we plugged in 12 spheros, 1 tablet, and 1 3battey charger for our drones. One of the students commented that we had a lot of empty outlets and I replied, I still have not unpacked the 10 tablets, the rest of the drone charges and other devices yet.

At that point many of the students wanted a Charging Hub for their homes.”

  • Sphero Mini

    Funded Jul 18, 2023

Thank you so much for funding a classroom set of Sphero Mini programable robots. Last year my students only had access to a few of them, this year we now have enough so that every student will have access to one.

As every student now has access, it increases the individual student's time spent on coding. We started by having the students learn how to drive in manual so the can see how the sphero handles. Next the students had to navigate a maze on manual mode, here the students yearned how precise they are not. Finally, the students started to code the sphero to run the maze. They notice that while the programing takes time, the sphero is more accurate and can run the maze faster than in manual. My students are looking forward to continued learning with the spheros.”

  • Keep the Desk Clean.

    Funded Aug 4, 2023

Thank you so much for the lunch trays, when we first opened them the students were not that impressed. Their first question was what are those and what will be doing with those things. So fast forward a few days and were going to be baking fresh apple juice in the class, each student got a tray with a plate, plastic knife, and an apple. Then I reminded them about their previous question and asked them, "What are these thing and what are they for?" Their answer was to keep our tables clean from all the apple pieces and scraps. I informed them that I have a second set for when we start using paints in the class so we don't contaminate the food use trays.

Thank you for keeping my class clean.”

  • Juice It!

    Funded Sep 14, 2023

Thank you so much for your gracious donation of the juicer to my classroom. When we unboxed it the students were excited to see how it would work. They were so disappointed to learn that they would have to wait for the next week, and then only if the lunch had fruits. When Monday came the students were excited to see what fruits came with lunch. To their Joy, it included apples and pears.

So we set up the juicer and then got to work cutting up the fruit to make fresh juice, once the fruit were cut we fed them to the machine and started to get the juice. Who was going to get the first taste? After some debate, it was decided that the teacher should go first just incase it didn't taste good. Needless to say the students were upset that after having 2 cups each we were out of juice.

    I believe they liked it.”

  • Just Shelve It

    Funded Jul 30, 2023

When the boxes arrived the students were quick to help with building our science shelves. The first shelf went by the door and currently holds the the six science kits that are currently in use. Next we tackled building the second set of shelves, we used that one to organize our science supply closet in order to make the future supplies easier to find and organized. We have one shelf left to build, the students voted to build that one a bit later in the school year to hold our completed science projects.

Thank you for bringing order to our classroom.”

  • Protective Cases!

    Funded May 17, 2023

Thank you so much for the purchase of 5 protective cases for our classes tablets. The day they were delivered the students were saying, "Put the cases on, we want to use the tablets." So on they prep period I put the cased on the tables and then they were in use by the next period.

Our first use of the day was to use them for coding our sphero robots. The students loved programing the robots and running them through the class maze. The next activity was a Kahoot game to review our science lesson from the day.

These cases are allowing the tablets to be used to full potential.”

  • I'm Hungry!

    Funded Apr 3, 2023

Thank you so much for contributing to my students snack welfare. At first my students did not know what was going on with all the boxes arriving in our classroom. I told them when all the boxes arrive we will have an unboxing event.

Fast forward two days later and I let the students start to open the boxes, and you can just watch their eyes getting wider and wider as more and more snacks are opened. I explained that the snacks were going to be available to students who missed school breakfast, or needed a pick me up. I gave the students a small snack as they had to unbox everything, and then moved the supply to the guidance office where it would be distributed to students as needed.”

  • Keep on Writing!

    Funded Apr 6, 2023

Thank you so much for the donation of the pencils and the sharpeners. They were much needed, the pencils went directly into the table boxes where the students are able to access the pencils.

The sharpeners arrived at the perfect time. The light duty sharpener I had been using had just burned out that morning after preparing the pencils for the day. So when the box arrived, we put one sharpener directly into use for the students to access and a second is located on the other side of the class for the students on that side. The third and final sharpener is our back-up.

Thank you for supporting my students with the pencils and sharpener to keep then writing.”

  • Rolling Right Along!

    Funded Jan 28, 2023

Thank you so much for the donation of the Sphero robots. The students were so excited to see them as they were looking forward to the arrival and first use. Today we used tablets to control the programable spheres o that the students can program them to follow specific patters or use in manual more. We focused on manual mode with the students today and the time flew by in class. When I told them it was time to clean up they were like, "What? We just started! Class can't be over." However, it was. The 50 minutes flew by so fast they didn't even notice.

Thank you for letting time fly.”
