  • Outdoor Seating Please.

    Funded Nov 5, 2024

Thank you so much for you kind donation of picnic tables to our school. When we first got the tables, the students asked when we would be using them as winter was coming and it was getting cold out. I informed them not to worry while it was getting too cold outside to use them for lunch and outdoor classes, that will wait to spring, they will be used. In the following days the students used them while having outdoor recess to keep their belongings on or to sit while waiting their turn on the basketball courts.

The students realized that they use them every morning when they arrive early and the school is not open for students yet, they sit at the tables and use their phone or eat the breakfast they came with.

We are all very thankful for these new additions and are waiting for spring to start having outdoor lunches and classes.”

  • Let There Be Light!

    Funded Apr 29, 2024

We were finally able to get to our supplies, after our move. In science class we started to learn how magnetic levitation trains work. So the students started experimenting with holding magnets near each other to see what happened. The students quickly noticed that sometimes the attract and other times they repel. they were then asked to balance two repelling magnets as if it were like the train, and they couldn't until one student realized that of the put a stick through the magnets they will levitate but that defeats the purpose for a train.

I then showed them the new magnet kit that will allow them to build a magnetic levitation rig like the trains use (see photos). They were all on board. It took them a few tries to align the magnets but watching them learn through experimentation was worth it.”

  • Waffle Wednesdays!

    Funded Jun 24, 2024

We finally finished our school move and were able to unbox the waffle mix. One student exclaimed that we have so much that it weighs for than he does. Thanks to your support we have 120 pounds of mix. So, it was time to get cooking, Wednesday morning the students came in and their first questions was when they will be having waffles.

Time for breakfast, our school paraprofessional, got cooking, fresh hot waffles right out of the press. Our students started the day with the hot, fresh waffles they have craved. The effect was noticeable, in the following classes the students were energized and engaged.”

  • Fly More!

    Funded Jan 30, 2024

It was finally time to unbox the drones! You could see the excitement on their faces as they opened the package to fine the 2 new DJI Mini drones. Before the students were able to pilot the drones they all took the FAA Trust course to learn the rules and regulations. Next they practiced their flight skills on our Tello's drones as they are much more crash resistant. When the students were finally able to fly around the room without crashing they were ready for the DJI Mini.

The student's mission was to fly the drones over each table and aim the camera down to read and take a picture of the next set of instruction, then follow the instructions. We have worked out a date in June for our best pilots to take the drones to our sister school and work with the custodian to do a visual inspection of the room. That will save the custodians' a lot of time with the ladders and climbing.”

  • Charge Me Up

    Funded Dec 7, 2023

Thank you so much for funding my project, "Charge Me Up"! Thanks to your generous support my students now have access to fully charged devices every period. We are no longer running out of electrical outlets or charging wires, we now have a power station ready to keep everything going.

What have you helped keep charged?

Charging station A is configured to charge 6 tablets, 3 sets of drone battery docks each charges 3 batteries, and 10 Sphero's. That is a total of 16 devices and 9 batteries.

Charging station B is set to charge 8 chrome books.

    Thank you!”

  • I'm Hungry!

    Funded Oct 12, 2023

Thank you so much for funding the I'm Hungry project. The students were excited when we told them we had arranged for a snack station. When it was delivered the students thought they would have free access to all the snacks, as we know with middle school students that is not a good idea, everything would be eaten in a day. So I have teamed up with our guidance department, now whenever students need a snack they are able to go to the guidance office and have a snack. This also allows for the guidance staff to help ensure that our students get the snacks they need and can assist in making sure these students come to school in time to have breakfast as well.”

  • Waffle Wednesdays!

    Funded Oct 12, 2023

Thank you so much for funding the Waffle Wednesday project! When the students heard that it was happening they were so excited. We kicked off this morning with freshly made, hot, homemade waffles. As a result, more of my students came to school on time to get the waffles, and as the day progressed, not as many students complained about being hungry. The students who complained said they would come earlier next time so they could also have waffles.

Another thing that I noticed was the students who did have the waffles stayed focused and on task longer. Thank you for giving my students the energy to stay on task.”

    With gratitude,
