SOR to Reading!
Funded May 9, 2023Thank you so much for your generous donation to support reading resources in our classroom!
We received our items towards the end of the school year and the students were SO excited to get to explore with them. We were able to play some fun games with the hands on resources and practice the reading skills we have been learning all year. My kindergarten students really liked being able to use the magnetic wands to spell words and blend them together while picking up the magnetic letters.
We are really excited to start implementing the new reading curriculum at the start of next school year and see all of the growth the students make over the year.
Thank you again for supporting our classroom!”

This classroom project was brought to life by SONIC Foundation and 2 other donors.Voices Coming Together!
Funded Jul 28, 2018Thank you so much for your donation to our classroom! Your donation has helped improve our classroom with real life objects to use while learning the English language. We use our new resources everyday, especially with our younger English learners. They enjoy being able to see and touch the objects that start with each letter and we also play a lot of games with out objects. They love to sort them into beginning sounds while also saying the object name out loud to work on our English skills.
The older students love the "Can-Do" games. These games help students improve their English language skills through grammar, spelling, punctuation, as well as comprehension strategies such as comparing and contrasting, sequencing, and main idea and details. The games offer great ways to improve their skills while having fun. The students love when I pull out a game to play!
Thank you so much again for your donation. Your donation has helped me make our classroom and fun and warm environment to learn English in!”

IPads for Language Acquisition
Funded Jul 16, 2018Thank you so much for your donation to our project! The students were so excited when our iPads were delivered. We use our iPads every day in some capacity. We have two programs that help the students develop their language skills. The students work on those programs every day and based on their performance, I am able to build my daily lessons on specific skills the students need to focus on. It's a win-win for both of us! The students enjoy the programs, and I am able to target specific skills to help the students grow in their language acquisition!
We also use a program with our district that helps progress monitor student's language acquisition to make sure the students are developing their language skills every month. This program also helps me to see what areas: reading, writing, listening, or speaking, that the student may be struggling with and tailor my instruction to help the students grow. The students are also able to practice their speaking skills in a non evasive way so that they are comfortable using their English.
We are so thankful to your for donating and making our classroom an even better place to be educationally!”

iPads to Enhance Literacy and Math
Funded Nov 1, 2014Thank you so much for your donation to our classroom! The students were so excited to receive the resources and could not wait to put them to use! They have really enjoyed learning on the iPads. Many of them have heard of iPads before, but have not gotten to experience learning with them before receiving them.
The majority of the time students spend on the iPads, they are doing reading and math apps during center rotations. I have downloaded several different learning apps to help students with their phonics skills as well as their math skills. The students get to play on the iPads daily throughout their center rotations. We have also used the iPads for several different reading projects. The students have recently completed a webquest and enjoyed looking up information on the ipads through the Internet to find the answers to the questions they needed to find. They have also used the iPads to videotape themselves retelling stories that they have read in class to help build their comprehension.
The students have been very engaged with the iPads. They love going to the iPad center and working on the iPads. When I get the iPads out to do an activity with them they get very excited. I have enjoyed watching how engaged they are during the activity and the excitement of learning on their face. They have been so excited to have these iPads in their hand and I wish I could express their excitement through words! You have truly touched these students by your generosity.”

Mrs. Cooper
