  • Current Events Make Reading Fun

    Funded Sep 2, 2011

Thank you so much for your generous donation of The Weeky Reader magazine to our class. My children are so excited when the magazines arrive in the mail. As I separate them the children get so excited and want to know when we are going to be working with that Weekly Reader and that one and that one. As soon as I say it's Weekly Reader time, they can"t wait to see what the topic is. They fit so perfectly into the theme that we work on each week. They especially love working with the Science Spin, they have learned so much already.

The hands immediately go up when I ask who would like to read for us. The Weekly Reader is helping this group of kindergartners become more confident and more excited about reading. We have you to thank for that enthusiasm.

Please know that your donation is being put to good use by a very thankful and appreciative group of 5 year olds. These children are being exposed to more information because of your generous donation and I thank you for that They are very proud of themselves when they are picked to read and becoming more confident because of you.

We wish you a very Happy 2012.

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kramer

  • Help Kindergartners Save a Tree

    Funded Dec 31, 2010

Thank you so much for your generous donation of wipe off boards and materials to go with them. My children are so excited to have the wipe off boards to write on, They are constantly using the boards whenever they have free time, There's no more worry about not having the right paper to use, there are different choices of boards to go around.

The children use the boards to write on during Literacy Centers. They use them to draw and write on during Social Centers. They are so excited to show each other what they have written and then love to wipe it off and start all over again.

I now have a class of environmentally conscious 5 year olds who have you to thank. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping these children to practice their writing skills while helping the environment and Saving a Tree in the process. ”

  • Tag Your It (to read)!!

    Funded Dec 29, 2010

I am thanking you from the bottom of my heart for your donation of the Leap Frog Tag Reader Systems. My class absolutely loves them. As soon as they finish their work, it's a mad dash to me to see who gets to use the Tag first.

Each morning, we do a warm-up. We use the Tag Alphabet Board. I am so amazed at how well the children are able to decode. Even some of my slower learners will decode a word for me and then laugh when I look at them in amazement. I know they're thinking, I knew I could do it, didn't you? Well , I always believed they could learn their sounds and learn to read and you have made my children really believe that for themselves. For this I am truly thankful and so are these 5 year olds who are growing more confident in their skills day by day.

Again, thank you for your genous donation and know that it is appreciated every day.

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kramer

  • Look! I'm An Author!

    Funded Dec 20, 2010

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping my children to realize that they can do and be anything they want. The other day, my class was talking and writing about what they wanted to be when they grow up , one of my girls said , "I want to be an author". My eyes welled up . It is because of you and your donation that my children see that they are capable of writing and of being authors. They are so excited when we use the materials you donated to us. We have made fiction stories about everything from princesses to monsters. We are making a book of How- To's in the hard cover books that they will be able to keep forever. Writing time has become exciting for these 5 and 6 year olds, it is not boring to them because we always have a different kind of paper to use.

I hope one day to see one of these children's names in print as an official author and I will think of you and how you helped us plant a seed that became a dream and then a reality

Thank you again and know that you are thought of every day at writing time, we will never forget your generosity.. ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kramer

  • Mmm, Looks Good Enough To Eat

    Funded Dec 26, 2010

Thank you so very much for your generosity. In just the short time that we have had the pretend food and snack cart, the children have been so happy. The socialization that is going on between them is amazing. I just sit back and listen to them as they pick the family members and choose the food for dinner. I have had " cakes" made for me and I've been asked how would I like my cup of tea? All of these gifts have been a positive, wonderful addition to our classroom. For this I am truly grateful. We have even already been able to squeeze in a lesson on healthy food choices and the children loved it.

Again, thank you so much from the bottom of our hearts for helping us to not only practice making healthy food choices but learning how to make choices while we play together .”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kramer

  • Staying Current

    Funded Oct 22, 2010

We are having a great time each week with our Weekly Readers. With the Predictable sentences in our Weekly Reader, the children are able to follow along and read the sentences by themselves.

It is wonderful for me to be able to sit back, point to the sentence and let the magic begin. The magic is in the voices of my students who then want to read and read and read again. You should see the pride in their faces. And those that are not exactly ready to read are trying just as hard as everyone else.

The best thing is they are not just reading, they are learning too. Learning about Current Events as they learn to read. What a great combination. You have helped give these children a sense of pride and accomplishment. When they see the Weekly Reader, they want to know when we're going to do it and can they take it home that day to read to their families.

I want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping these children in their quest for learning. ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kramer

  • Big Books -- The Better to Focus My Dear

    Funded Sep 8, 2010

Thank you so much for your donation of Big Books for our class. In the time that we have had these books, the children are already becoming more focused during reading time. Every time I take out a Big Book to read they get so excited. Their first words are "Yea, we're reading the books we got as a gift." And it truly is a gift and you are truly wonderful for donating to these children. Now that they know some words, they are enjoying the Big Books even more. They are reading them with me. It is so rewarding for me and again I have you to thank for that.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for encouraging this class of 5 year olds to read and be comfortable with it. ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kramer

  • We Want To Be In The Know

    Funded Dec 14, 2009

Thank you so much for The Weekly Readers. My class is so thrilled by having their own magazine to read. Every week when we cover the Weekly Reader, they keep repeating "Can we take them home today?" The answer of course is "Yes."

In the short time we have been using the Weekly Reader to supplement our curriculum, the children have learned so much. We have expanded our studies of Groundhog Day, Chinese New Year and the Olympics just to name a few. After we read the Weekly Reader, we write about what we learned and we talk about it. This magazine has not only improved the reading skills of my class, but it has also made them more confident and more "In the Know" about current events.

Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping my children to be more "In the Know." ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kramer

  • Can We Play Today?

    Funded Dec 17, 2009

Thank you so much for your donation of Literacy games and activities. My children feel very Special to have been thought of by you especially in these tough times.

Every time we have centers, everyone wants to play with all our new games. They especially love the alphabet puppets and everyone already has their favorite letter and character. Even my shyest child lights up when he has a puppet on his hand, waiting to be part of a skit or mini-play. For that I am truly grateful.

In the short amount of time that we have had our literacy activities, I have already noticed a difference. All the children want to do is make words. They are constantly calling me over to see the word families that they have made with the letter tiles. The games and activities are perfect for all the different levels in my class. Everyone has an activity that they can master, which makes them feel Great. Everyone leaves center time feeling good about themselves and that's all because of you and your thoughtfulness.

Again, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for choosing our project to donate to. Your generosity will not be forgotten.

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kramer

  • Can We Play Yet?

    Funded Dec 7, 2009

I can not begin to express my sincere gratitude for your thoughtfulness.  The children in my class feel so SPECIAL because of you. They were so excited that they were getting "presents" because of your sister.

You have given us a new center time.  The children are so excited when center time comes around. Everyone wants to "play" with everything.  The puppets are a real winner, they have already started making up skits and mini plays.  Even my shyest children come alive when that alphabet puppet is on their hand. Even in the short time we have had these wonderful gifts, I have seen an improvement .  All they want to do is make words.  They are constantly calling me over to their table to show me the new word they made or to tell me what rhymes with what.  What a difference you have made in the lives of these  boys and girls.

You have really helped with our different levels of expertise.  All the children are using something appropriate for what they can do and master. They all feel like a Winner and that is all because of your thoughtfulness.   Again, I thank you from the bottom of my heart.  Your kindness to these children have meant so much to us especially during these hard economic times”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kramer
