  • The Missing Pieces

    Funded Dec 4, 2019

Thank you so very much for buying these new books for our classroom! When I unboxed the books and showed the kids the classroom was filled with excitement. Students were calling out "dibs" and asking to start a hold list so they could be next. It is always a good day when you can get a student excited to read and you provided that for them!

The DogMan books already have a long wait list, as well as the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. I introduced them to the Skeleton Creek series, which fall in the spooky genre, and they were chomping at the bit to get their hands on them. I also previewed the Vietnam War books with them and most of my boys were actually sad when I stopped reading aloud.

Thank you for loving on my students and sending them new books. Thank you for encouraging their love of reading. Thank you for the 42 excited faces I had in class today. You rock!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mitchell

  • I Survived 6th Grade With These Books!

    Funded May 7, 2019

Thank you so much for donating books to our classroom library. I asked my students what books they would like to see and made my list based on that. I wish you could have seen their faces when I unboxed the Maze Runner series. They were so excited since most of them have seen the movies. When I showed them the I Survived series they all started calling dibs on specific ones. We had to create a waiting list for most of them. These books will be used every day by my students for their silent reading. I will also use the City of Ember series as my classroom read alouds, because even sixth graders love being read to. Thank you again for thinking of us and helping us increase our classroom library resources and thus our love of literature.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mitchell

  • Let Them Fidget, Let Them Focus Part II

    Funded Jan 23, 2019

I wish I could submit a video of my kids' faces when I unwrapped all their new fidget options! They were so excited to see them! I give them a few minutes in homeroom to use each one while completing an online activity and they were so excited! Each child got to choose which of the SEVEN new fidgets worked best for them, and they were so excited to do so. My boys were especially excited to use these and were very focused (some for the first time) on their reading activity. I love that these fidgets do not make sounds so they will never cause a distraction, but they will serve a very important purpose. I cannot express my gratitude enough to you for helping me get these fidgets to my students. They all want to say thank you as well for caring about their education and their futures! Thank you again for your kindness!”

  • Let Them Fidget, Let Them Focus

    Funded Dec 25, 2018

Thank you so much for donating to our project! I received our bands, fidgets, and seats today and unboxed them in front of the kids. I wish you could have seen their faces when they saw how everything worked. We placed the bands on the fronts of their desks so the could bounce their feet up and down silently. I observed each and every one of my students trying it out with HUGE smiles on their faces. I also passed out the marble fidgets and explained to them how to use them. I looked up during my Social Studies lecture and saw all of them using their fidgets while taking notes; some were spinning them, some were moving the marble, and some were squishing the mesh! I also gave the bouncy seats to my boys that have extra jitters, and they were so excited! We cannot thank you enough for your generous contribution to our classroom!”

  • You Wouldn't Want To Be A Student Without These Books!

    Funded Oct 25, 2018

My students and I want to thank you from the bottoms of our hearts. I wish you could have been there today when I unboxed our new classroom books. With each new title, the excitement grew and students began calling "dibs". These books align perfectly with our ancient civilization standards in South Carolina, and they will be used with each unit. My 6th grade boys (notorious for not liking to read) were scrambling over themselves to see the funny pictures and read the gross/interesting facts. They were given a few minutes to read through the books they were handed and I heard "Hey, I didn't know..." and "Wow, that is so cool" being whispered all throughout the room. You have truly given us a something that is irreplaceable, an excitement for reading and a hunger for more knowledge. Thank you for supporting my students and their education. You are appreciated.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Mitchell

  • Don't Judge a Book by Its Cover!

    Funded Mar 30, 2017

Thank you so much for giving to our classroom library! My students were absolutely THRILLED when I pulled each new book and book series from the box. The class was filled with "wows" and "ahhhhs" (also a few dibs being called). I wish I could have videoed the pure joy on their faces as they realized those books would be theirs to access daily in class. You have given my library new life and the kids are excited once again for independent reading. They are even rushing through their work and ASKING to read instead of using their iPads!! In my class, I have many kids that either have library fines or lost books and they are limited to the number of books they can check out , if they can check out at all. They desperately want to read the newer, more exciting titles and you have given them this opportunity. All the Bad Kitty books, Captain Underpants, Stink, and Squish books are all checked out already! Thank you for giving my kids a renewed love of reading, that I could have never afforded.”

  • Headphones Would Be Music to Our Ears!

    Funded Oct 3, 2016

    Dearest Donors,

We thank you so much for your gracious donation to further our education experience. Through your donations we were able to buy forty headphones, one for every student, to use with our school iPads. The students LOVE the headphones and think they are "so cool". With these headphones they are now able to hear their interactive educational apps and respond appropriately to the prompts. Whereas before all the students could hear everyone else's prompts and would get distracted trying to see what lesson the other students were doing.

The kids were so excited to learn we were funded and we even tracked the shipment to our school. The were in awe when I opened the box and showed them their new headphones. They LOVE that they do not have to share and they all have their very own. They enjoy getting their headphones from the box everyday and getting to work with their apps to further learn and play (while learning). One day we did not have the chance to use the headphones, due to state tests, and they were devastated.

You helped provide an essential piece of the educational puzzle to the majority of my students. Most of them were not able to buy their own headphones or had to share on certain days with other siblings. Some of the students have NEVER had anything that was not handed down to them, and the pure joy they get from opening BRAND NEW headphones would have brought tears to your eye.

Thank you for believing in my kids and showing them that people care about them, even people that they don't know. They are proud of their headphones, but even more proud that someone loved them enough to care about their education. We cannot thank you enough.”

I teach 6th grade Social Studies and English Language Arts in a fast growing community, due to many businesses moving in close by. My school is in a diverse community and is represented by many different cultures, Around 50% of our children qualify and receive free or reduced-priced lunch, which means many of our children live in poverty. Regardless of these conditions, my students come to school ready to learn. They know they will receive the same quality education and all be on an equal educational field. They know they will be safe and loved while in my care. These students deserve to be given their best chance at an education!
