  • Picture This

    Funded Jan 29, 2012

This is just a small token of my gratitude. The camera and digital picture frame you contributed to have made all the difference in the world to my students. They now feel as if they can share the projects they are doing with the school and on the Internet. The digital frame plays non-stop in our classroom and on certain days, the frame is displayed in the main office for the parents and other students to see.

Having the camera around has encouraged the students to better document their work from beginning to end which helps them better evaluate the process of creation. Their documentation will also serve as an example for future students also interested in theater arts.

The students have received such positive feedback from having their work on display. It makes them feel good when they hear others compliment their work because they saw it in the main office. It has also generated more interest in students wanting to get involved in the arts. They had no idea what our group even did before they got to see it on display.

Thank you again for donating to our project. I am grateful that your generosity made my students feel on top of the world.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Turner-McMullen

  • Make It Bigger

    Funded Jan 20, 2012

This thank you letter is only a small token of my gratitude for the LCD projector that was donated to my classroom thanks to you. The students in my class have been able to project images onto the screen so that all students may see the video instructions that are streamed through the computer for complicated stage procedures. The projector also made it possible to enhance their spring production this year by allowing them to include video scenery in the play.

Keeping technology alive and having students work with technology in their show helps keep them college ready and ready for the workplace. It also opens the door for them to bring even more creative possibilities to their productions. In the next few weeks, our students plan to use the projector to create a moving scenery behind a puppet show for a festival they were invited to. They are very excited to show off their mixture of folk art and technology.

Without donors like you, our students would not have access to new technology. Thank you again for your generous donation.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Turner-McMullen

  • Sculpt My Script

    Funded Jan 13, 2012

As a small token of my gratitude, I am writing to tell you of the impact your donation has made on my students. All of the supplies we received are being put to use making large scale puppets for a local festival. Without the donation of supplies, the students would not be able to participate in this extraordinary event. They feel supported and important in pursuing this art form.

Our school is facing major funding cuts and this mostly impacts the arts. With the generosity of people like you, you have sent a message that it is important for the students to have these supplies available to them and our school has listened. Next year, the school has decided to offer theatre as one of the few remaining electives.

Our students still have this festival to look look forward to at the end of this year and when they go marching down the streets with their giant puppets, they will be thanking you for making it possible for them.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Turner-McMullen

Most of my students have never had any experience with Theater. They are "stuck" in the class by their counselor. Many are special needs students. They cannot stay after-school for rehearsals. Their parents don't see the point in them wasting their time with the arts. Last semester, I challenged them to put on a play. They learned to sword fight, make giant puppets, memorize lines and make characters come alive. They had the time of their lives coming together as a team and putting on a show. Their confidence levels soared; their reading and writing abilities went way up. They were interested in what they were ding and had a reason to come to school. They are truly fired up to write a script, make puppets, and take their show on the road this semester.
