There are many things children need in order to be successful in life, but the greatest of them all are love and support. Families and teachers work hard to provide that to their children every day, but sometimes we need a little extra help - a few extra tricks, tips, and tools to bring our visions to life. White boards, a book shelf, and mail box, oh my! Personal white boards will help student engagement during whole-class activities, as well as serve as tools during small-group instruction. A book shelf will give them access to the books they love, while teaching them responsibility by taking ownership of its tidiness. Mail boxes will reinforce independence as well as develop organizational skills as the students begin taking over responsibility for their Friday Folders. There is also an electric pencil sharpener on my list of desired items. They often break the lead of their freshly sharpened pencils in their current hand-held sharpeners, causing them to start the process all over again and waste learning time.
