Indian and Pilgrim Crafts “As Easy as Pumpkin Pie”
Funded Jan 10, 2009Thank you very much for our "Indian and Pilgrim" Day craft materials. Every year we have a Thanksgiving feast between grade levels. We make authentic food and have a gift exchange between the Indians (1st grade) and Pilgrims (2nd grade). I cannot wait to use the new materials to make gifts for the student exchange. We will also do the daily writing with our Quill feathers. These new materials will make this day more exciting for the students because they have more activities to participate in and more exciting for the teachers because the activities are more authentic. Thank you and please keep donating to make projects like these continue in our classrooms”

Happy Birthday, Abe Lincoln!
Funded Feb 3, 2009Thank you for all of the Abe Lincoln material. The students had a wonderful time learning about one of our greatest presidents. The books made celebrating Abe's 200th birthday an extra special event. After going over the material as a whole group I displayed the books in the classroom for the students to read during their self-selected reading time. Many students reread the books on their own. When I speak to past students one of their fondest memories is learning while celebrating a special holiday. Celebrating Abe's birthday will be one of these experiences they will remember for the rest of their life. With the new materials the students will gain more knowledge of our 16th president as well as have more fun learning about him. As a teacher it is important for me to give students educational experiences that they learn from and also remember. I can not wait to see the improvement in the student's knowledge of Abe. We looked at pictures of the former president and his wife. This allowed the students to relate to him as a real person rather than just a character in their history books. We also displayed the Lincoln growth chart. Students throughout the school were standing next to the Lincoln display measuring each other and comparing him or herself to the tall Lincoln. Every year I spend money supporting projects in my classroom. I can not afford all of the materials I would like to provide for my students. I appreciate donors like you who support the teacher and realize the importance of a good hands-on education. Thank you again and please realize your importance in making projects like this a reality.

Super Spanish Speaking Second Graders
Funded Dec 30, 2008Thank you very much for funding the materials necessary for me to teach my class Spanish. I am so excited to be able to enhance their knowledge of another language. Many of our students are from low socioeconomic backgrounds and are not exposed to much outside their homes. Hopefully these materials will give the students a better understanding of life outside of small town Indiana. With these materials we can give them unique experiences that they can appreciate for the rest of their lives. With our county housing many factories from different cultural backgrounds it is important for our students to be exposed to these cultures and their languages. Thank you again for funding my project and making my job as a teacher a little bit easier”

Chicks Through a Whole New Light
Funded Dec 14, 2008I opened my email this morning and was ecstatic to see that my project had been funded. This is the last week before Winter break and this was an awesome early gift. I explained to the students that we were going to get a microscope that would enable us to see what is growing inside the chicken eggs. They were also very excited. They are ready to start the incubation process tomorrow. I have about thirty years to teach before I retire and I plan on using this equipment each year. If the equipment is willing it should be used by about 900 students in its lifetime. I appreciate your donation and can not wait to start the incubation process in the spring”

Chicks Rule
Funded Aug 14, 2008I am so glad to have received my new materials. I can not wait to let the children see the chicks hatch. They love not only learning about the lifecycles, but also being able to see the process. Hands on learning experiences are the ones the children will remember for the rest of their live. Thank you again and for funding our materials and making our first week even more exciting”

Super Scientific Second Graders Study Life Cycles
Funded Dec 18, 2007Thank you very much for supplying our new science tools. We are a small school without exciting new equipment. It really enhances the students understanding of the subjects. By supplying this material we will be able to see the life cycles of the frog, silkworm, ant, and the butterfly. Seeing these three dimension life cycle models gives the kids better understanding of the different stages the animal or insect goes through. The students will be the most excited about the prehistoric creature habitat. They love watching things grow and survive in their habitats with their own eyes. Thank you for enhancing our learning, our community, and eventually our future”
