My school is a Title I school in a high poverty area in Rochester, NY. Most of my parents work two to three jobs to make ends meet. My students often have to worry about things outside of their education such as food, money, transportation, and the challenges of their home lives. Things that any elementary school student shouldn't have to worry about. Though they face great challenges they come to school and achieve great things. My students all come from low income families with 90% of students on free or reduced lunch. Despite their extreme poverty, these students have a strong desire to further themselves and do great things with their lives.
