  • LEGO My Ride

    Funded Dec 29, 2020

Thank you so much for your amazing contributions to our LEGO projects. The students loved being able to do something that was hands-on and creative. This year they haven't been able to use much of our STEM lab as they either aren't learning in-person, or we have to make sure all items are cleaned and quarantined. Being able to have individual packets of LEGO for them to build with made a huge difference in their learning.

The project they worked on today was to build something that related to the president they were studying and creating a presentation for. Students made LEGO creations and took pictures of them to include in their presidential presentations.

They had so much fun they didn't want to go out to recess!”

  • Robots for Voting #2

    Funded Dec 2, 2020

Thank you so much for your donations to my students and this project. Having these robots available for students to take home while we are distance learning has made such a huge impact on how we are able to do our STEM lessons. Now, all my students, regardless of where they are learning, can share in the same experiences together.

My students could not wait to get these robots home and start experimenting with them. The robots are so versatile and can be programmed via so many different methods (barcodes, sensors, block and written code) that we were having fun just learning how they worked.

I look forward to getting started on many wonderful programming projects with my students, including creating community impact challenges and videos to encourage coming together for the greater good.”

  • Artificial Intelligence all Around Us

    Funded Oct 22, 2020

Thank you so much for your generous donations to our project. Having these robots for my students is such a great way to make all my students feel including in our STEM lab this year, including those learning from home.

My students could not wait to get these robots out and start learning with them. The robots are so versatile and can be programmed via so many different methods, using barcodes, sensors, block programming, and written code that we spent so much time having fun just learning how they worked.

My students are looking forward to learning about about Allie K. Miller, head of AI Business Development at Amazon, and using the Edison robots, along with their integrated sensors, to develop their own machines that they can envision would use AI in ways to improve our communities.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Muncy

  • Robots for Voting

    Funded Oct 14, 2020

Thank you for your generosity in donating to my project. Having these robots available for students to take home while we are distance learning has made such a huge impact on how we are able to do our STEM lessons. It was so important to me that all my students, both the ones learning at-school and those at-home, are able to share the same experiences.

  • Sharing the Holidays with STEAM

    Funded Nov 24, 2020

Thank you so much for funding this project for my students . With these supplies, I was able to do the light-up holiday card project with over 150 students, in grades 3-6, both in-person and those that were distance learning.

It was an amazing opportunity to create unity with the students, as we made something together that everyone was super excited about. It was also a great learning opportunity for us as the students learned about how circuits and LEDs work, and it incorporated problem solving skills as students, especially those at-home, had to learn how to troubleshoot their circuits if they weren't working.

I am forever grateful to Donors Choose for funding this project. It was truly a great way to end the year before heading out to winter break.”

  • Voting with STEM

    Funded Oct 12, 2020

Thank you for helping our students learn about democracy, voting and civics in a fun and interesting way! these 3d printing supplies and dough made for some really unique projects that the students created to encourage the community to get out and vote!

Students loved making designs in the 3D printing software and then seeing those creations come to life as they were printed. Students also had a great time and got very creative with making dough sculptures that showcased concepts they had learned. Some even made claymation videos to demonstrate key learning topics.

Thanks again for contributing to my students' experiences!”

  • STEM Rewards #3

    Funded Sep 11, 2020

Thank you so much for supporting our students in their learning. Having the supplies necessary to create fun, take-home, STEM kits for our distance learning students has enriched their school experience so much.

They have been able to enjoy so many things that normally we would take for granted. Being able to create claymation videos has been such a huge joy for the students. They love seeing their creations come to life, and be able to do STEM activities that are hands on. My younger students absolutely enjoyed learning how to blow up balloons as they learned about how bubble gum was made.

We also turned popsicle sticks and rubber bands in pumpkin catapults! Having these supplies truly has made a huge impact in our learning this year.”

  • Interactive Whiteboard for Coding

    Funded Aug 8, 2020

Thank you so very much for your generous contributions to my students. Having this interactive whiteboard has made a huge difference in our learning. Not only do I have a much easier time demonstrating how to create and debug our codes, but the students really enjoy having the opportunity to come up to the screen and use the interactive pen to move code blocks around. It really brings the projects to life and really gets the students interested and involved in what we are learning. I can't wait to find more ways to implement this interactive whiteboard.

    Thank you so much!”

  • Coding on the Move

    Funded May 28, 2020

Thank you so much for supporting our students. Having these whiteboards and markers has made a huge difference in our coding projects. Students are able to visualize and map out their coding projects to easily share with their classmates. Additionally, with the current in-school student separation and no-sharing rules in effect, the double sided whiteboards help the students still feel connected to each other. Also, since lab spaces are currently now in each classroom, the mobility of the whiteboards has been instrumental. Having sets of markers for each student has also been very useful for us to limit sharing of supplies.”

  • Makey Makey and Me

    Funded Aug 7, 2020

thank you for your generous donation that made these projects possible. With our students in distance learning, it was so important to be able to get them supplies so that they can have hands-on learning experiences.

The students had such an amazing time building and learning about circuits in our Scrappy Circuits lessons. They learned to use basic tools, test LEDs and batteries, and make switches, all from basic household items like aluminum foil, binder clips, paper clips and cardboard.

This knowledge of circuits will come in handy when we return to in-person learning and are able to utilize the Makey makey kits.

The students also loved hearing about all the innovators' childhoods in the "Little People, Big Dreams" books. It gave them so many ideas about how their ideas could help change the future.”

My project is for supplies to use with our Wonder Robots in our Innovation Lab for project-based learning. This year the students will be introduced to both programming skills and design skills with Wonder Robots in their project-based learning adventures. The Wonder Workshop Build Brick Extensions and Technic Series Parts will be used by the students to design and build special attachments onto the robots in order to have the robots do specific tasks. The 20 compartment roll file cart will help the students keep their robot mats organized so that they will be ready to begin their project-based learning lab experiences in a timely manner.
