• Active Kids

  Thank you so much for supporting our students. I am so excited to have the equipment that will help them be active! Our students love to play soccer, and they will be excited to have 2 different sized soccer will be a game changer. Everyone will have the perfect sized ball, and not have to use one that is too big or too small. The same is true of the playground balls. Some games work best with the larger ball, while others need the smaller ball. Basketball is a game that students will play for many years to come, so having size 5,6, and 7 will allow students to continue with the game as their skills grow.

• Lunar New Year Lanterns (3)

  Thank you so much for your kind and generous donations to our project. The students were very excited to see the new supplies, including a new printer, and be able to use the mobile laptop station to print their lantern designs. We have started making some lanterns already in preparation for bigger Lunar New Year celebrations next week.

  Our Innovation Lab would not be possible without donors like you funding our projects. A maker space is only as good as it's materials, and with the entire school population using this space every week, we definitely need a lot of supplies.”

• Lunar New Year Lanterns (2)

  Thank you for your kind and generous donations to our project.

  we were already able to get an early start on some of our Lunar New Year celebrations by making simple paper lanterns to hang in the classroom. Students were given a choice of activity and the majority chose to make the lanterns! It was such a fun class for them, and I was amazed that they chose paper lanterns over a device-led activity.

  Next week I hope to be able to incorporate additional grade levels into the celebration activities.”

• We Love Books, Books, and More Books

  Thank you for bringing Books, Book, Books! to our school! We have a book vending machine named Inchy, and these books are making their way into Inchy. Our students love to pick out a book from Inchy that they can take home. They eceive an Inchy token for their birthday and when they are student of the week. Students can also earn a token by showing our 3 Rs, Ready, Respectful, and Responsible.

  The Kelly Yang Front Desk series is so popular that it literally flies out of Inchy. We put them into Inchy, and by the end of the day, they had been chosen by students. I love that they were so excited to read! Our students are also excited about the Warriors series.

Flat Stanley is fun, and students love to see where he goes for an adventure.

• Celebrating Lunar New Year

  Thank you for supporting our STEM lab. The STEM lab is a place where all the students in the school, from grades PK to 6th, come to learn without realizing they are learning. Since it is such a wide range of ages we need a variety of supplies. While the upper grade students are making paper lanterns, or laser cutting snakes out of acrylic, the play-dough offers the youngest students a chance to participate in the Lunar New Years celebration by making snakes out of dough. Ziplocs will allow them to take their supplies home to share with their families.”

• More Books, Books, Books!

  Our students love to pick out a book from Inchy that they can take home.

  They gather around Indy and love to talk about the books. Having Big Nate, Flat Stanley, and Mindy Kim in Inchy will be so exciting for our students. Big Nate makes everyone who reads it smile. Our second grade is right in the middle of a Flat Stanley unit, and Mindy Kim will resonate with our students who celebrate Lunar New Year. It is important for students to find books that they connect with, and with this selection, they will be sure to do that. Thank you for making that possible! We appreciate your support.”

• Glowforge for the New Year

  Thank you so much for supporting our project asking for colored acrylic to use in our Glowforge laser cutter. A lot of STEM equipment, such as laser cutters or 3D printers, require a lot of consumable supplies. Without donors like you, we would not be able to continue to have an effective and modern STEM Lab.

  Our first project using these new supplies will be to draw snakes celebrating the Lunar New Year. We will then transfer these drawing to the Glowforge software and students will be able to watch the lasers cut the shapes that they created.”

• New Year, New Pencils

  Thank you for supporting our project for new colored pencils and colored pencil sharpeners. Since the STEM lab is a place where every single student in the school comes to learn once a week, we need a constant supply of materials. With so much screen time these days, students love being able to create with paper and pencil. Our first project coming up is to design and decorate lanterns for Lunar New Years. Students will be able to create multiple lanterns, so that they can take some home, and I can use the rest to decorate the STEM lab. I feel it is important to showcase student work, so that other classes can share the experience.”
