I am excited to bring math concepts to life with these colorful learning materials. Due to COVID-19 cleaning protocols, students can no longer share one set of materials during math group. This has been challenging without multiple sets to use! For my project, I am requesting individual student sets of Base 10 blocks, magnetic sets for demonstrating concepts on the board, a hundreds chart for easy-to-see counting practice during my math groups, and write-and-wipe number lines for every one of my math students to keep handy in their classroom supply boxes.
When students have hands-on opportunities to model number concepts, engagement increases enormously and allows students with visual or kinesthetic strengths to better understand math lessons. These materials will be versatile for a wide age range of students that I serve (kindergarten through fifth grade) and able to be used all year when teaching a diverse spectrum of math units.
