This classroom project was brought to life by Bill Gates and 14 other donors.Classroom Supplies
Funded Jul 19, 2018My students and I can't thank you enough for all of your generous donations. The supplies that we received have made our classroom so welcoming and safe for everyone that walks through the doors. The students have taken such pride in their classroom already this year, due to the brightness and sharpness of the decorations. They make sure that everything is neat and ready to go for the next day, and help each other out to ensure that the boards and bins are presentable to anyone who comes in the classroom.
It is important as an educator to have my students love their classroom, feel safe and productive. This environment that you have helped create, did all of that and more for them.
Thank you again for helping start our year off on the right foot!”

5th Grade Celebrations!
Funded Jan 4, 2018Thank you again for your generous donations to our end of the year 5th grade field trips. The students fully enjoyed themselves on both trips that culminated their time at the school. They loved the rock walls, soccer and trampolines and the activity center, and worked up a sweat dancing on the lunch time cruise. Students also were able to socialize with students from other schools and learn about children their age who live in different parts of their city.
Without your donations these trips would not have been possible! Our students thank you from the bottom of their hearts.”

Brighten Up Our Learning!
Funded Aug 3, 2017Thank you so much for your generous donations to help us get our colored poster printer! The items we have made this year so far, have truly brightened up our classrooms, and well as our student's learning. Teachers have been able to make visuals color coded, as well as make individualized posters for their respective groups of students. This has helped students understand different processes, including how to write a multi-paragraph essay, where the topics connect, as well as follow steps to solve a multi-step word problem. Our library has also used this machine, to print out inspirational posters, to promote reading and adventures through reading. Once again, thank you for your generosity, we all really appreciate it.”

Readily Accessible Passages
Funded Jan 11, 2017Thank you so much for your generous donation. Our students' access to text is going to sky rocket thanks to your help. The scaffold some students need will be readily accessible, and help my co-teacher and I plan accordingly. We have been able to quickly have access to different scaffolds and passages for students when needed. In addition, we can make copies easily for students to have extra resources when needed. Our students really enjoy having colored resources to help guide their thinking processes
The pictures that we will be able to print out will also help tremendously.”

Researchers in the Making Through Close Reading!
Funded Sep 25, 2016Thank you so much for your donations. Our class has been able to use many issues of the Time for Kids and Scholastic Weekly! We are starting out new non-fiction unit this week, and will be able to use the magazines during our "fun Fridays" again. Our students' knowledge of non-fiction texts, and using the different features has grown immensely since being introduced to these magazines. They are very interested to read the articles, and see what is happening around the world. The look on their faces when they heard we were bringing "fun Fridays" back and getting to use the magazines made me so happy.
These "fun Fridays" include our students going to different stations, and using the magazines for different reading skills. For example, on "fun Friday" we had students use the different text features to find the main idea of the article. Since these articles are above their reading levels, they used the features to help guide their understanding. The conversation that has come out of using these magazines, has surprised me. Our students are having more in depth conversations, and are aware of what is happening outside of their neighborhood. It is truly amazing.
We are so lucky to have people who not only care about us, but care about our students as well. We can't thank you all enough for your generous donations. It makes what we do even more special every day. Thank you again!”

Mrs. Sansonese
