  • Multi-Sensory Today Keeps Illiteracy Away!

    Funded Aug 23, 2022

Thank you again, so incredibly much, for donating to this project and helping to make our multi-sensory dreams come true! With your donations, you've provided our students with a plethora of different activities to help assist them in learning their letters, sounds, and ultimately, to read, using best practices and multi-sensory techniques!

Students have put to use all of the various activities within this project! They love finding letters, matching cvc sounds, practice their blends and more! As we move away from a balanced literacy approach, into structured literacy, which is research based and approved, our students are showing increase reading levels, which has positively affected them in every other area of their academics as well!

Thank you again for all of your support in helping the students of Tilden Hogge become better readers through a multi-sensory approach!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Elliott

  • Students Become Teachers!

    Funded Dec 6, 2019

Thank you for the incredible donation to my classroom! My students have LOVED the Power My Learning activities! They have utilized these resources in a variety of different ways and were an amazing addition during Covid and at home learning. They have learned from the lessons, but have also been able to teach their own family members during this time period as well.

When students were first exposed to these activities, they were a little confused because they aren't used to being "the teacher" and the role in which they play is reversed, compared to normal. However, after talking with students and allowing them to see that they were actually going to be teaching their parents, they were thrilled and so excited to begin.

I will continue using these lessons throughout the years with upcoming students as I feel these school/home connection that is created through utilizing these resources is nothing short of AMAZING!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Elliott

  • Game Time!

    Funded Jan 31, 2019

Thank you so incredibly much for helping support my students in acquiring materials necessary for our "Game Time" wishes! As a small school, our Academic Team needed funding and an overhaul, including new resources to help them study and compete against other schools both locally and regionally. These games and activities were a great addition to our practice time, as they allow students to study in a manner that was fun and competitive!

When my students first saw these materials, they were overjoyed! We typically have to study just by reading material over and over again, which is definitely not fun, or struggle to find relevant information online. These, however, had everything all bundled into one and allowed students to play and practice with each of the other students in their content area in a more engaging manner!

The next steps for my classroom are to continue utilizing Donors Choose to the best of my ability, through generous donors, such as yourself. As for the materials, they will continue being used for years to come as more and more students find out how fun and competitive Academic Team is!”

  • Binding Machine Book Writers!

    Funded May 6, 2019

Thank you SO incredibly much for your support on these items! Our bean bags which were once flat as pancakes are now fluffy again and a favorite seat in the classroom! (Filling them up was a different story, lol). In addition, our new binding machine has been a lifesaver in all of the writing pieces that we have worked on thus far. This machine will allow us to bind out published pieces to create our own books and something to be proud of! As with all of our Donor's Choose funded projects, my students now have items at their fingertips that could not be possible without you. Thank you again for all of your help and support!”

  • Home Away From Home!

    Funded Dec 14, 2018

We want to begin by thank you so very much for your generosity and donation towards our classroom materials. We have needed a rug since the beginning of the school year, as ours was beginning to fall apart. With our new rug, it not only matches our farmhouse themed classroom, but it is soft and cushioned, which makes it a favorite spot for student to complete their individual work in our alternative seating classroom. In addition, it's a wonderful gathering place during our daily lessons, small group lessons, and class read aloud. The essential oils and diffuser have helped us as we change the oils according to what is happening within our classroom and students' needs. During times where we are sluggish, we put in energizing oils, stressed because of testing, a stress relief, and during the cold and flu season we had the "breathe easy" oil in our constant rotation.

Our classroom feels more at home than it ever has, thanks to your donation. When we are comfortable, our learning is at its peak, and through your donations, you have made our comfort level soar! Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Elliott

  • Wobble While You Work!

    Funded Sep 7, 2018

I just wanted to take the opportunity to thank you once again for helping to fund the Wobble Stools for our classroom. Not only are these seats a staple in our alternative seating classroom environment, but they are fun, help my students who have trouble sitting still, and allow them to get the "wiggles" out, all while continuing to learn and focus on the lessons and activities at hand. My students rush to use these every single time they are released to work independently! They are so loved! We appreciate you more than you will ever know!! Thank you so much, again, for this wonderful classroom addition!”

  • "Surfing" In The Classroom!

    Funded Sep 10, 2018

Thank you SO much for helping fund our project! When my students saw the new seats for our classroom, they couldn't wait to tear into the boxes and drag them out. After a brief introduction and review how to use them correctly, they have quickly become one of the favorite seats in the entire classroom! Students rush to grab a "Surf" seat anytime they get a chance to work around the classroom, no matter the subject or what type of activity they are working on. They are perfect for individual work, group work, traditional paper pencil work, or even working with technology. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect addition to our alternative seating classroom.

Next, we are working on creating an even "homier" atmosphere in our classroom by gathering donations for a class rug and essential oils diffuser. Our goal is to make a home away from home! Thank you for all of your contributions in making our goals a success.”

  • Adding Some CHROME to our Class!

    Funded Jun 4, 2018

Receiving our Chromebook has been a pure blessing and has impacted our classroom in more ways than I could have even imagined! In addition to the 25 students in my classroom who have daily access, the other 50+ students who rotate throughout my class for Science instruction are also able to greatly benefit. We have used our Chromebooks to research, work online through our Google Classroom platform, communicate with others, complete projects, as well as differentiate our own learning. Having the Chromebook in our hands at all times has allowed us to move beyond the classroom setting, branching out into more independent territory as classroom learners and for that, I, as well as my students will be forever grateful! Thank you so much Donor's Choose, as well as Verizon, and all other donors who give so graciously to impact America's public classrooms.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Elliott

Although we are a split grade class, we are also a learning community that strives to help one another achieve and succeed no matter what we are working on, what grade we are in, or what it takes. We are a family unit that depend on one another and do what it takes to get the job done!
