  • Smooth Classroom Transitions

    Funded Nov 26, 2024

The students absolutely love their new, personalized, transition bags. They were able to draw designs on their bags that they are proud of. They now definitely have smooth transitions for sure! No more dropping of binders, books, or pencil cases. Additionally, these bags fit nicely in their desks, ready for transition time and ready for storage when time to go home. I am truly grateful for the ease of movement from class to class these bags have been able to provide. Very easy and very smooth. Moreover, they are strong and sturdy canvas bag that will absolutely last all school year long.

Thank you so much! These bags have brought a lot of joy to my students and me. We appreciate you, your kindness and generosity. We would not be able to have these smooth transitions without you. Thanks again for making this a possibility.”

  • Guided Journaling for SEL

    Funded Aug 20, 2024

Journaling, a very new concept for most of my students. They are quickly learning that journaling about their very big feelings is a very good way to help them understand and manage their emotions. That having these big feelings are very human, very normal, and that there are ways to help them manage them and journaling is one of them. My students look forward to completing the journal pages, answering questions they would have not thought of, helping them see what they are feeling and experiencing in a whole new way. Dear donor, thank you for making it possible for every single one of my homeroom students to have their very own journal. They are really enjoying writing in them and learning about themselves. Thanks again.”

  • Restocking Our Classroom Economy Store

    Funded Sep 24, 2024

It is such fun to see the students' joy in purchasing the highly desired items (so generously provided by you) from my classroom store that supports my classroom economy system. The students really enjoy earning that classroom cash, plan for what they want to purchase, figure out how much to save and how much to spend, seeing that at the end of the year we will be having our much anticipated end of year auction, and off they go to the classroom store! The items you provided by funding this project really make my classroom store a real treat for my students. They will do extra things, as much as possible, to earn extra cash and buy the highly desired items. Thank you for making this a possibility for my students.”

  • Hand-Eye Coordination: Getting Smarter Through Cursive Writing

    Funded Aug 25, 2024

The students are super excited that they are learning how to write in cursive. They are not only learning it but also having fun while practicing. Cursive time is a favorite time of the day. If that time has to be canceled for whatever reason, the moans and groans coming from the students are a testimony at how much they truly do enjoy learning to write in cursive. They also get a kick at how it is scientifically proven they are getting smarter as they practice their cursive. They are even venturing to write full words and sentences in cursive though we are not quite done with the book.

My students and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making it possible for them to each have their very own cursive books to learn to write cursive and get smarter while doing it. You are the best!”

  • Sturdy Headphones: "Can You Hear Now?"

    Funded Aug 14, 2024

Having high quality headphones for my students to use is wonderful. By the looks and feel of the headphones, they will likely last all school year and hopefully beyond. With the strong, flexible head band, braided cord, and adjustable ear height, the iClever wired headphones made specifically for kids are just what my students and I need.

More importantly, they are a hit with the students. The students like using them, saying the headphones are comfortable. They also said that the sound is clear and crisp. I am supper happy that they are happy, comfortable, and can her clearly with the headphones. Thanks again for making this possible for my students and me.”

  • Home-School, Parent-Teacher Partnership, Communication Is Key!

    Funded Jul 30, 2024

"Look into your child's blue folder," was the message I was able to send out at my back-to-school night event, indicating to parents where they will find all hard copy communication from school. It was as simple as that. All of my families know that their child has a blue folder to look out for, on a daily basis, in order to check for information coming from school, such as newsletters of events occurring, graded papers, and the ability to send notes back to school for me to review. The folders are sturdy and look to be able to last the entire school year.

It has been such a help to be able to use these folders designed for school-home communication. The clear labeling of each pocket in the folder makes it easy to determine what to do with the paper. It's a win-win! Thank you!”

  • Stationary Standing Desk Bike for My Wiggly Learners

    Funded Mar 19, 2024

Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle while you work! I am so stoked to be able to provide this table exercise bike for my very wiggly learners. They love peddling as they work. I've got quite a few that are constantly on the move. They also have wiggly stools for when at their desk but that often was not enough when working on projects that needed complete focus. That's where the exercise table bike was extremely helpful for them. I am amazed at how much work my wiggly learners could get done while working on the bike. Thank you, dear donor, for making this possible for my students. It is wonderful to be able to provide such a "tool" for my students that one might only be able to find in a more affluent school. My students said they feel like our class is "fancy" because we have such flexible options to be able to work. My "fancy" classroom is made possible by you. I am so thankful. You are the best!”

  • Snacks for In-Between Breakfast and Lunch

    Funded May 22, 2024

If I am just a little late in opening the snack closet because of the daily happenings of a classroom, the students will be quick to remind me that it is "snack time." They truly do look forward to their daily snack. I am very grateful that I not only have caring but generous donors, such as yourself, that make sure that I will have snacks to help my students carry over until lunch time. To us, it is just a trivial little snack, but to my students, it is huge that they are able to choose from a selection generously provided by you. Sometimes I wonder if they come to school just for the snack. Thank you for making it possible for me to be able to have snacks for my students. You are the best!”

  • Color Printing for Project-Based Learning

    Funded May 22, 2024

It was that time of year, where my fifth graders were busy putting together projects such as US History research presentations and their year long portfolios needed for fifth grade promotion. They had all these extravagant illustrations, rich in color. They absolutely couldn't wait to print their colorful projects only to find out that it would most likely have to be in black and white. We have a color printer on campus that is SHARED with the entire school. There are at times a long line waiting for projects to be printed. Not ideal situation for a class of 30 fifth graders to have to wait to print their projects. But the worst is when the color printer is down.

Well, we got our color printer just in time. It was so easy to have a color printer for my fifth graders to print as soon as they were ready. Boom, in seconds, the project was printed right there from the comfort of our classroom. What a treat! Thank you so much, dear donor, for making this possible. Now, my future fifth graders will all be able to benefit from having access to a color printer in our classroom. You are the best! Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

  • Markers for Art for Mind and Soul

    Funded Mar 19, 2024

It is wonderful to have these lovely sets of high quality markers for my students to use on any project, particularly when needing to sketch, draw, or doodle in order to calm and aid in the self-regulation of their emotions. The soothing, satisfying strokes of the lines created by the markers bring peace and comfort to my students. They will often create from their imagination but they also often like to follow self-directed art from a channel on the internet. They love the distraction of the challenge brought by following the instructions given by the artist. The pride they get with their finished product is priceless.

Dear donor thank you for your generosity in making this project possible. I definitely could not have made it on my own. Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

My students live in a low socioeconomic area where being in school is not really thought of as something amazing and wonderful. They are too busy staying in the fishbowl that is their city and are consumed by the gang warfare that surrounds them. Gunshots are the norm. To make school like gold is my goal. I still remember the moment my teacher opened my eyes to the world of learning through reading as she placed us as a community of readers and writers in close proximity to her on the ground. We would surround her on the bright carpet where we would do our best thinking and learning. School. It was my safe haven. I actually am teaching in the same classroom where my teacher "rescued" me years ago through opening my eyes to the wonderful world of learning. School and being successful in school is what kept me out of trouble and gave me the insight in what to do to achieve my goals. "School is cool!" is my game.
