  • Media Power

    Funded Aug 17, 2024

The kids are excited to see their photos on our giant display wall daily. Sometimes they get embarrassed, laugh, or simply smile when one of their photos pops up on the wall. The HDMI switcher makes it really easy to switch between devices rather than switching the TV input each time. it also allows for a more central device input station and reduces the number of cords needed to run from the TVs to the devices.

Thanks so much for choosing to support our classroom and improve the overall appearance and culture for my students.”

  • Wrenching Out Life Skills

    Funded May 24, 2024

The first day we got the new wrenches we went out to remove a quick release valve that was leaking from a water hose. The wrenches got right to work and helped me and the students make repairs.

Last week we lost a wheel on one of our water carts because the nut holding the wheel on had loosened and fallen off. Luckily I had a spare nut and wrenches to tighten it back down.

Wrenches and pliers aren't fancy and flashy but they sure help the kids learn life skills and get the job done.

All of the small projects sure add up to some really cool results that make the school a better place for the students to learn.

    I really appreciate your kindness.”

  • Building Dexterity with Duplo

    Funded Apr 26, 2024

"I gotta do the whole bucket, like all of these Duplos I have to pick up with my toes?"

Yes (student) you do have to use your toes to pick up each of these Duplos. it helps the muscles move and that helps flush the build-up of waste material from the ankle sprain.

Two days after we got the Duplos into the AT Facility we put them to use in our rehab.

We have a team building activity scheduled where the teams have to design and build a scene that represents our program. These new "toys" are going to get a lot of use in our Athletic Training Facility. Thanks for supporting my classroom and my students.”

  • Weight Rack for Organized Growth

    Funded May 9, 2024

Have you ever been in the middle of a project at home and had to leave it for a few weeks? Then you are stepping over the tools and busted-up tiles while waiting for the right pieces or enough time to dig back into the project. That is how I feel our facility was with the weights lying on the ground.

Now the bumper plates are on an easily moveable rack that keeps them well organized. An added benefit is the safety clips that we can use on the bar while lifting weights. I breathe a little easier knowing we aren't going to stump our toes on the weights lying on the floor. It looks nice, is more functional, and is safer for our student athletic injuries to recover. All because you chose to give to our projects. We aren't done improving yet...but for now thanks so much for your kindness and support.”

  • Switch Up the Classroom

    Funded Mar 8, 2024

Oh no!!! What did I do??? These kids kept me here for an extra hour last week playing video games. One Mario Kart race turned into a circuit, then we had to "run it back," meaning they needed a re-match. Daily, they wait until the jobs are done so we can jump on and start playing. Boomerang Fu is another simple group game that allows even the non-gamers to be competitive, get involved, have fun and be included.

Your gifts and kindness have made a huge difference in our facility. We have only been able to use it for the last two weeks but they are loving every minute of having the Nintendo Switch in the classroom.

It took a long time to get all the pieces assembled but our giant TV wall that displays pictures when we are not gaming is worth all the effort we put into it. Of course, none of this would have happened without your kind support and giving.

    THANK YOU!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Jackson

  • Cordless Drill for Building Life Skills

    Funded Dec 13, 2023

We fix a lot of things here in Sports Medicine. Most of the time it is injuries related to sports, but often we have to fix the equipment we use to fix injuries. Just this week I went to sweep the floor and the dust pan handle came out of the pan. Since we have a drill and driver we were able to drill a hole and put a screw into the handle. Now that screw keeps them from popping off and makes cleaning up easier.

We have a few new items coming in the next few weeks that we will need to assemble and the students will get to use the drill you gave us to build those. One of the students in the picture had never used a drill. I showed her how to put it in forward, reverse, how to loosen the "chuck" and replace the bit. She drilled the hole and attached the screw securing our dustpan.

Small life skills can go a long way. They may not go on to be construction workers, builders, or any other type of laborer, but they can at least tighten a screw on the door hinge, mailbox, or table.”

    Mr. Jackson

  • Clean Wireless Audio

    Funded Sep 21, 2023

These kids are excited. During our first Friday night football game after receiving the wireless mics from DJI, the students had someone mic'd up on the sidelines. One of the students was assigned as the filmer for the night and they got a lot of funny footage. A game later they were doing sideline interviews.

One of our traditions is "senior night" where we say thanks and goodbye to the seniors on their last home home game. The wireless mics you donated allowed us to interview our students on the sidelines easily.

We previously had to compromise video quality for audio quality by making the person stand awkwardly close to the phone or camera. These mics give clean audio anywhere on the field. We are just getting started using them but I look forward to seeing the fun videos we create. the mics are exactly what I hoped for. THANK YOU.”

  • Clean Floors for Motor Skill Learning

    Funded Mar 13, 2023

Wall-E runs most nights and helps keep our floors clean. It really is cool to press the button and know that the floor is getting cleaned as I walk out the door. In the pictures, you can see the students using some of the foam rollers on the floor. Thankfully we do not normally have crunchy foam rolling sessions very often. the volume of dirt on the floor has greatly decreased. Part of our adventure each day is finding "Wall-e" in random places throughout our facility. Each time he gets stuck somewhere we are able to improve the path for him. usually, that means setting up barriers or picking cords up off the ground. We really appreciate the clean floors and the fun of learning how to use the new tech. Thanks for supporting our classroom and Athletic Training Facility.”

  • Snack Time

    Funded Aug 23, 2023

Oh My Goodness!!! I did not know that Black Forrest fruit snacks were so popular. My students were really excited when they opened the packages with fruit snacks.

Granola bars, Chex mix, fruit snacks, and trail mix make great healthy (or at least mostly healthy) options for kids to make it through the day. When working after school events our kids might have to stay until 7 p.m. and often work outside in the heat alongside the team. The small snack gives a great option to not have that dip in blood sugar and energy levels.

Thanks so much for helping with the small things that allow them to focus on the big things.”

  • Markers, Paper, Wipes

    Funded Aug 9, 2023

We started our "get to know you" wall this week once we received the dry-erase markers. We post student answers to questions that help us get to know random facts about the people on our team. Then each student gets to initial if they think it was "Jim" or "John" At the end of the week we move the statements underneath the correct student and enjoy a few stories. The dry-erase markers are a key piece in students picking their sides.

Not sure a teacher can ever have enough Clorox wipes and hand sanitizer. The bundles of wipes you donated should really help us reduce the spread of bacteria in our Athletic Training Facility and classroom.

Thanks so much for choosing our classroom.”
