Students will be using the book titled, “Survival of the Sickest: The Surprising Connections between Disease and Longevity” alongside the AP Biology curriculum throughout the year. This book emphasizes the four big ideas continuously practiced in AP Biology. This book relates our current understanding of illness through ideas such as evolution, homeostasis, heredity, interactions between species, and much more. This book will allow students to have a better understanding of our world around us and how it relates to biology. Each chapter focuses on topics covered in the classroom. The book even demonstrates how little scientists really know about human health and ways that we can eventually overcome this. Each chapter relates to at least one of the enduring understandings and learning objectives explored in AP Biology.
