I teach 7-8 grade Life Skills students in the city of Pittsburgh. My students have an incredible range of abilities including severe mental impairments. I believe that all children are capable of incredible accomplishments when they are given the proper attention and tools to achieve. My students range from 12 to 15 years old and have been diagnosed with intellectual disability as well as a variety of disabilities including but not limited to speech language impairments and autism. They are all very eager to try new things which is such a blessing. Their abilities are just as diverse and unique as they come. We are located in Pittsburgh and have a high needs/low income population. We have a wonderful staff at our school and do the best to meet the needs of our students. We provide our students with community learning experiences and hands-on activities but lack technology resources.
