Printer Please!
Funded Dec 23, 2015Thank you so much for donating to this project! We are so appreciative of your help! With this printer, the 100 students I see daily are able to print their papers! This printer has caused them to want to see a hard copy of their work, and I can't tell you how excited they are to see their final product in print!
We are at the end of our second quarter and all of my 8th graders have read The Narrative Life of Frederick Douglass. They are writing essays based on the autobiography with the claim that there can be no freedom without education. Many also read the autobiography of Malcolm X and are creating essays comparing and contrasting the views of Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, Jr.
My seventh graders finished reading The Red Badge of Courage. We held debates on ideas from the book, and students produced an ample amount of evidence around the idea of heroism. They wrote their essays on whether or not Henry Fleming showed courageousness or cowardice. They are all so excited to see their final work printed! Thank you for helping the classroom and allowing my students to see what great writers they can be!”

Funded Dec 8, 2015Thank you SO much for generously funding this project! What great news! As you can tell from the pictures, these necessities have helped our classroom grow and have helped student learned exponentially! They were so excited to see the materials; they wanted to take them all home!
These materials have been extremely helpful! Each student has used the post-its to track their thinking while they are reading their books. And the paper - such an essential! You're a life saver! We use it to use for creating graphic organizers, designing covers, printing student work, and so much more!
I cannot thank you enough for your kindness! The class is so thrilled!”

Middle Schoolers Must Have Materials!
Funded May 5, 2015To those of you I know, and to those of you I don't know (i.e. Anonymous wink wink),
Thank you SO very much for your generous donation! Your contribution has not only allowed for supplies and books, but... we finally have a classroom computer! Hooray!! The students absolutely love it, and they jump at every chance they can to use it. Since 95% of the school participates in free or reduced lunch, many of them do not own a computer at home or even have access to the Internet. With the computer in class, students are now able to research ideas regarding questions posed in class, look up high schools they are interested in, or even type a paper! Plus, NONE of the students have ever used a Mac before, so it's been really exciting teaching them the distinctions between Macs and PCs. We are currently debating which is better. :)
This computer has opened up a whole world of opportunities, and it is completely because of YOU that it was made possible. YOU did that!! YOU made technology possible so they can better understand the world around them. You are a saint and I wish I could put a million exclamation marks!!! From the bottom of our hearts, we are sending you gigantic hugs filled with love and sappy feelings! Thank you so much for your donation. I am so truly thankful.”

Please Help Us Print!
Funded Dec 16, 2014I cannot thank you enough for the printer and the ink cartridges! This printer is a life saver!! These students are able to reap the benefits of having a printer, and they are loving it! They are able to print out numerous papers and projects not only for my class, but for other classes as well. Students love being able to actually see their finished product in print right away! They also love printing pictures to add depth and appeal to their work. They really feel a sense of reward when they have a tangible, hard-copy to hold.
Also, with having a printer I am able to conveniently print homework, class work, and exams at a moment's notice. Other teachers are also using the printer, and with over a hundred junior high students, it truly has been put to good use! This printer has saved time and energy; before I would have to print all their papers, projects, and worksheets at Kinko's. Now I am able to print anything, even the mailing label for our Thank-You Letters! My sincerest and deepest thanks to you for helping improve my classroom! This is truly life-saver!!!”

Funded Nov 5, 2012Thank you for your generous donation to my classroom! The class sets and teacher's guides have undoubtedly helped my students stretch their imagination and pursue a love for literature. I service a hundred students daily, and these novels have encouraged students to want to become better readers and writers. I know that your donation has made a huge impact because every day so many of them come into class eager to keep reading!
Without your help, my students would never have had the opportunity to read these books through the guidance of teacher instruction. In this way, I was able to clearly explain literary elements such as suspense and foreshadowing, and delve deeper into concepts such as prejudice and justice. These are such important ideas, especially for middle school students. These books have not only inspired them, but have caused them to reflect on their own way of looking at the world.
From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you for your kind donation. I promise that these books will be used for many years to come. Your commitment to helping children is truly appreciated.”

Reading Books For Third Grade Class
Funded Jun 20, 2008Thank you SO much for generously funding this project! I was beginning to lose hope that it would not happen! Last school year, there was a chapter of Charlotte's Web in our Reading textbook, and the students really loved it -- its underlying themes of friendship and acceptance were definitely points that made me feel that this book is a must-read. I am staying with my same class this coming school year (looping with them and moving to fourth grade), so I know that they will be so excited to actually be able to read the book! Plus, they have all heard about the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie and I had wanted to read the book with them. This really is great news! I cannot thank you enough for your kindness and now I cannot wait for school to start! The class will be so thrilled! I look forward to sending you pictures and letters!
Sincerely,

Books for the students
Funded Apr 13, 2006I can't thank you enough for funding these books! I know my fourth grade class will love these books as much as I do! I will use them to the fullest. In Charlotte's Web, the message of the power of loyalty and that special bond a loving friendship can bring is important to the character’s lives. Since these children are becoming more social as they get older, and are building ties with their classmates and other peers, I think a book about a true friendship is ideal. Also, I like how Charlotte (the spider) teaches Wilbur (the pig) how to go on with his life without her. This idea of loss is something I know many of my students are familiar with, since all of them come from single family homes. I will also connect the book to Science, where will be learning about the anatomy of spiders, life cycle, and different types of spiders (such as trap-door spiders, bird spiders, and funnel-web spiders).
Finally, I want to also thank you for funding the The Westing Game. My class of twenty loves mysteries! I have been reading them Goosebumps, and I know they will be thrilled when they have a mystery book all their own. Once again, thank you so much for your kindness and generosity!!
Sincerely,
Jenny C. ”
