Readers Today, Leaders Tomorrow
Funded Oct 22, 2020Well since the shutdown in New York City schools we haven't been able to read all of these new fabulous books. But the ones we were able to get to were full of wonderful lessons. Determining the central message of a story is a skill 2nd graders are working on, and what better way to do so with engaging stories that are culturally diverse and reflect the students in our classroom.
By choosing mentor texts that are relevant bring an aspect of prior knowledge to lesson, which ultimately makes learning easier!
We cannot wait to go back to school and finish reading these great stories!”

Funded Sep 16, 2020With the addition of a color printer to our classroom we are able to bring to life the many visuals used to instruct our students. Visuals are a key component to students remembering concepts. The color printer helps us create engage visuals for all content.
Also, we are able to print leveled readers for our children to take home. This is especially important this school year as children are not allowed to borrow our classroom library books. Through this color printer we're able to help boot our students reading abilities!”

Funded Sep 10, 2020We cannot thank you enough for your generous donations that led to the purchase of our Cricut. This has made beautifying our classroom as well as various parts of the school that much easier. With a school year that's filled with anxiety and nerves, we were able to make our class and school a calm and welcoming environment for our students.
There's no doubting who those clipboards belong to! All that time we saved cutting those cactus nameplates out thanks to the print and cut feature on the Cricut allowed us to spend more time planning than beautifying!
We can't wait to see all of the creativity flow; the possibilities are endless!”

Funded Aug 11, 2020Thank so much for your generosity! We are able to provide our children with the tools needed to be successful students in a 21st century classroom thanks to your donation. Without the file cabinet we would not be able to store safely the headphones. Without the headphones imagine how loud the classroom would be! The file cabinet allows the children to be self sufficient when needing to get their headphones - it's just the right size!
Not only is it a great spot to store the headphones safely but it is a great height as a document camera stand. Talk about it being multipurpose!”

Funded May 5, 2020With our students at home and teachers in the building this easel has made our lives that much simpler when it comes to virtual lessons. My co-teacher and I have used magnetic teaching materials to conduct virtual lessons. By having an open space at an appropriate eye level for students to see, virtual lessons go off without a hitch! The dry erase aspect of the easel makes conducting math lessons so much easier. The children can see a wide view of the manipulatives. The light weight and wheels make this easel an easy one for us to move throughout the room so we can maintain social distancing. We cannot thank you enough for this amazing new tool in our classroom!”

Funded Oct 26, 2019We cannot thank you enough for your donations! With the funding of our projects our students have been given the opportunity to understand the world around them. Time for Kids is a wonderful magazine that provides children with access to current events on a level they can understand and that is developmentally appropriate for 7 and 8 year old children.
Students are continually engaged in the readings and activities. The best part, they don't even realize they are working on reading skills, they are just having fun and a "break" for our reading curriculum!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for giving to our children. They deserve the world and it takes a village to give it to them. We're glad you're part of our village!”

A Chair for Everyone!
Funded Sep 18, 2019In the age of constant moving and instant gratification, traditional seating is no longer an optimal tool for learning. As educators it's our jobs to provide our children with the best learning environment and tools they need to be successful.
Our wobble stools have increased the students productivity immensely. Instead of having to get out of ones seat in order to find the sensory input needed to maintain or refocus students remain seated and their learning spot and continue working. The motion of the wobble stool provides the children with the sensory input they need to be successful students.
We cannot thank you enough for your generosity. Your donation has gone a long way in helping our students grow and learn.
The saying, "it takes a village" couldn't be more accurate to describe education. We are so lucky you're part of our village!”

Flexible Seating Matters!
Funded Sep 2, 2019To start, we now have a place to seat all 28 of our students! When the school year started the children were cramped and sat on top of one another. With the addition of these 4 desks we are able to spread the students out.
We have used the desks in a variety of ways since Ms. Ramos and I assembled them. Sometimes students sit independently at the desks in order to concentrate on the task at hand. Sometimes we push the desks together to make a giant table and can have a group of 4 working collaboratively.
We cannot thank you enough for your generosity. Your donation has gone a long way in helping our students grow and learn.

Funded Jan 10, 2019Thank you so much for your generosity. It's people like you that make our jobs as educators easier.
With your donations we were able to enhance our classroom with functional alternative seating. Ultimately this has lead to increased attention spans and productivity from our students. We truly couldn't be more thankful for you! The two green chairs are used throughout the day, allowing children to join us on the carpet for lessons. Teachers and students alike love to sit in them to read! Our students also love to sit at the small table to do group work, the couldn't be more excited to work independently!”

Funded Mar 26, 2018Thank you just seems so insignificant. We cannot begin to tell you what your generosity means to us. This cart has made an enormous impact on our classroom in just the week we have had it. Each afternoon a couple of students who have been designated as the technology officers place the iPads and Chromebooks back into the cart for charging and safe keeping. Not only is it allowing us the ability to use our technology more frequently but it is teaching and reinforcing student responsibility. Your donation has helped to enhance student learning through technology as well as teaching the students valuable life lessons.
Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts! We truly appreciate you and all that you do. It is people like you that enrich the lives of children whom otherwise would not have these opportunities.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Tucci
