IPad Pro! Make My Math Easier!
Funded Dec 21, 2018The iPad helps student engage in learning on a platform they are used to. Many of them play video games or watch youtube but they do not know how to learn content using a digital device. The iPad allows them to this integrating apps, websites and digital tools to absorb contents through listening, touching and seeing.
The most exciting aspect of the iPad is how it is connected to the existing Promethean Board. Students can share there ideas visually as well as orally to the class. All they have to do is write using the Apple Pen and it appears on the Promethean Board.
I have a student who is very bright but will not engage in learning when it comes from a book... Since the iPad, he is engaged and actively learning content with a great attitude.”

My Macbook and Me
Funded Aug 22, 2018Thank you so much for your generous donation to my Donorschoose project!!
The MacBook Air has made it so much easier to utilize technology in my classroom. While we have chromebooks, the MacBook is far more powerful. My students an access the Microsoft Suite, as well as open multiple search engines at the same time. With the Microsoft Suite, my students are gaining experience in real world programs that they will need to master for success in high school, college and beyond.
Thank you again for equipping my kids for the 21st century!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Yang
This classroom project was brought to life by The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and one other donor.Feelings, the Arts and Chromebooks
Funded Dec 8, 2017Technology opens my students' world view. Coming from their perspective, everyone else is just like them with the same opportunities and resources. Internet access through the chrome books shows them otherwise.
Chromebooks give them autonomy to access other platforms like Google Classroom and Google Suite. In addition, it allows my students to interact with students and scientists from around the world.
One of my students loves the new Chromebook because he can have a access to curriculum that is geared towards his individualized needs, increasing his engagement and enjoyment of the learning process.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Born This Way Foundation and 6 other donors.STEM + More Google Chromebooks =More Amazing Science Discovery
Funded Sep 26, 2016Our children live in a world where the lack of technology in the home is abnormal. However, up-to-date technology in the class is abnormal as well. As the world moves forward faster than ever, our students must be prepared to adapt to changes in their technological world. Most of my students know how to use a smartphone or a tablet computer, but their technology use and understanding stops there. The Chromebooks are a great transition tool between their personal devices to check their Facebook pages and using technology in the classroom and eventually the workplace. Also, it will allow them to work as independent scientists, finding cutting-edge information instead of relying on textbooks that are based on decade-old information.
Chromebooks excite my students with its internet capabilities. Through easy access to the internet, they are able to travel to museums and zoos in other countries without leaving the classroom. For example, they are able to see a webcam of cell division and another one for viruses. Being able to compare these processes while watching it live draws students in because encourages further exploration and curiosity in my students.
Nearly all of my students have never seen, much less used, a Chromebook. Keeping this in mind, I let my students unpack and explore them. We compared their similarities to smart phones, tablet computers and desktops. Maria said that she liked how the Chromebooks were really fast and the screens were much bigger than her smartphone. Also, Jose said that he liked the keyboard because typing on a touchscreen can be a pain.
Thank you so much for your help in transforming learning for my students!!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Yang
STEM + Google Chromebooks =Amazing Science Discovery
Funded Aug 23, 2016Technology is vital to the 21st Century classroom. Living in a world where new operating systems are introduced every six to eight months and advancements in technology occur faster than ever, students must be prepared to adapt to new mediums of learning and test-taking.
For example, they are able to see a webcam of a swimming shark and dolphin, thus able to analyze how their movement through water is similar and different. This observational learning is potent, encouraging further exploration and curiosity in my students.
All of my students have warmed to the Chromebooks, but Johnny, one of my more reluctant students, stands out. Johnny was one of the students who unpacked the Chromebooks, since he had no idea what they were. When he opened one up, his first response was "Awesome!! An iPad with a KEYBOARD!!! YAY!!!." This young man who does not complete his classwork or homework now is motivated to finish his work on a Chromebook.
Thank you for empowering my students to seek out answers in the natural world and motivate them to achieve greater heights!!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Yang
