My students are only eight and nine years old. Sometimes, it can be difficult for them to keep their supplies and belongings organized. I want them to be responsible for their own things but without desks, that is hard to do. Their notebooks and folders and pencils are scattered throughout our classroom. Notebooks and folders are by the shelves near the windows. Each subject gets its own bin. Pencils and erasers are at the front of the room in their cubbies. Art supplies are in a make-shift cardboard shelf in the back of the room. My students' supplies are everywhere and when you have thirty-two kids in one room, it becomes harder to manage. With seat sacks, it will greatly help to solve our problem with organization. Students learn best when things are organized and are easily accessible. With seat sacks, everything will be in one place for my students and it will be right at their seat! No more would we have thirty-two children moving about in a classroom trying to get the materials that they need for writer's workshop or reader's workshop! No more would we have distractions here and there because someone ran out of pencils at their seat and now needs to make their way across the room to get extra pencils in their cubbies. These seat sacks would save us so much time during transitions and that time saved, can be used for learning as it should be!
