Funded Aug 18, 2022Thank you so much for your generosity and kindness.
Scholastic News has been the perfect supplemental non-fiction reading material for our ELA curriculum. The articles are engaging and focus on topics relevant to my students' lives. They truly have inspired my students' love for learning and sparked a deeper curiosity about current worldwide events and experiences.
Additionally, implementing Scholastic News has had a much greater impact than I ever imagined. Not only have we been able to have rich whole group discussions and practice critical thinking skills and strategies, we've also been able to use the articles to support their writing skills as well, providing great examples of perspective taking, persuasive writing, personal narratives, and expository writing,
I am truly grateful for the support."”

Funded Sep 23, 2021I can't thank you enough for your generous donations! These supplies have helped tremendously with organization in the classroom.
The dry erase pockets have helped reduce paper waste, and have been an excellent resource during our daily lessons. I use them for quick checks for understanding of key concepts and ideas and also for math and reading fluency practice. They make the perfect combination with the dry erase markers and erasers. Since the erasers are magnetic, my students always know where to find them; they stick to their desks!
No more headphones crammed in desks or cubbies! The hooks hold them place on the sides of student desks, and the cords are no longer getting crimped by books or other supplies.
The headphones are amazing! I love that the microphone is built into the cord. This feature has eliminated dangling and chewed on microphones. I also have not had one student complain that the headphones squeeze their heads, or that they cannot hear out of one side or the other.
Teaching and going to school during a pandemic has been a feat in itself, but these donations have helped us get organized and back into our routines. They have been an integral part of setting my students up for success. I appreciate your kindness, generosity, and heart for kids.”

Funded Oct 21, 2020This has been a school year like no other. My 4th graders have been doing Comprehensive Distance Learning since September. This generous donation has put actual books in my students' hands during a time when it feels like everything else is digital. They were thrilled to receive this amazing gift, and have thoroughly enjoyed our novel study for Unusual Chickens for the Exceptional Poultry Farmer. Their stamina, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension skills, and joy of reading have greatly improved.
Additionally, they have had the opportunity to see the world through the eyes of the characters in each of the books, some like them, and some vastly different. They are learning to embrace their own cultures, understand and practice empathy towards others, and have gained courage to be themselves.
These books have provided them with different lenses to see the world around them and affect change. Thank you for believing in my students.”

Basic Supplies Equals a Successful Start to a New Year!
Funded Aug 8, 2020Thank you for supporting my students and my classroom! COVID19 has greatly impacted families this year. Eliminating the financial burden of purchasing basic supplies has helped tremendously!
Each of my students was given their own bag of school supplies prior to the first day of school, enough to sustain them for this first trimester. I was blessed with the opportunity to hand them out during our technology pick up. The gratitude and endless smiles were priceless!
Students are using their supplies to help keep themselves organized during Distance Learning. The pencil box helps them keep their pencils, markers, crayons, colored pencils, erasers, and pencil sharpeners in one place, and at their fingertips when they need a certain supply for a project.
The spiral binders help them organize their work by subject. They have one spiral each for ELA, math, writing, science, and art. We are currently working on a personal narrative in writing. Having a spiral specifically designated for writing has been so beneficial. There have been no loose or lost papers. Everything, including their 4 square organizer, outline, and multiple drafts is all in one place.
Science and art are two of their favorite subjects. In the next few weeks, we will begin to explore sound, waves, and communication. Students will use their science journals to take notes, make and test hypotheses, and draw diagrams and pictures of their findings. They are so excited!
I appreciate your selflessness and generous donation. You have made a tremendous positive impact on my students. We are truly blessed.”

Funded Jan 12, 2017Thank you so much for your generous donation. My students love art and they were so excited when I opened up our boxes of art supplies. It was a special celebration!
My students and I have been putting the supplies to good use. We have completed a Picasso abstract portrait lesson with oil pastels. Students loved this lesson! They layered the oil pastels and then drew designs on the top layer to reveal the bottom layer of oil pastel. Once complete, they wrote a short biography about Pablo Picasso. Both their portraits and biographies are proudly displayed on the wall outside our classroom for all to see.
We also used the Crayola watercolor pencils to create heart art, loosely based from works of the artist Jim Dine. Students were amazed when they used their new paintbrushes to paint water over the colored pencil. It was magical!
We are currently working on St. Patrick's Day and other March art projects. I can't wait to see the looks on my students' faces when their projects are complete!
These art supplies have made such a tremendously positive impact on my students. They have allowed them the opportunity to explore their artistic talents and escape into the amazing world of art.
Thank you again for your generosity and selflessness.”

Technology Take Us Away!
Funded Nov 17, 2016My students and I were thrilled to receive our Chromebooks and headphones to implement our new literacy and math center.
The addition of these Chromebooks not only has allowed me to target areas in which my students are struggling, they have also provided my students with the opportunity to practice literacy and math skills and help fill learning gaps. My students and I have already noticed a positive impact in their learning.
All of my students' scores have been improving. My most intensive students have improved in the areas of math fact fluency, recognizing patterns in math, phonics, phonemic awareness, and reading comprehension. Additionally, my strategic and benchmark students have been able to improve their reading comprehension, math fact fluency, and understanding of multiplication and division concepts and strategies.
A simple thank you doesn't quite express how much of a difference your generosity and selflessness have made in the lives of my students. They are more confident in their abilities and have a renewed zest for learning.”

2, 4, 6, 8 Ready to Assimilate!
Funded Jan 9, 2015My students and I were thrilled when our boxes of supplies arrived. It was like Christmas in January. Neither my students nor I could wait to try everything out.
We made use of the carpet squares immediately during whole group reading and math. They have added more movement in the classroom and they are a more comfortable place for my students to gather for vocabulary lessons and read alouds. We also use the carpet squares during math lessons with student whiteboards and the new dry erase markers. The squares help my students stay in their own personal space while the markers help my visual learners stay engaged during the lesson. The markers and whiteboards have been extremely beneficial for lesson planning because they provide me with a quick look to see which students are getting the concepts and which students need a little more practice.
In addition, the fraction flash cards and dice have been especially useful since we were in the middle of our fraction unit when our supplies arrived. These tools have been a fun way to reinforce the hard work and effort put forth by my students. With the implementation of these math manipulatives, my students have had the opportunity to get more fraction practice during math class and also during free time. Consequently, all of my students' math scores have increased, even my struggling students.
As 3rd graders, my students continue to work on honing their social skills and building relationships, skills necessary not only for entering 4th grade, but skills which are essential to being successful in life. The board games have helped to reinforce their understanding of the importance of being respectful and responsible students.
I am proud to have the opportunity to teach these 33 wonderful 3rd graders and I am looking forward to watching them grow even more.
Thank you for your generosity and belief that all children can learn. It has allowed me to make a much larger impact on my students' learning.”
