My classroom is set-up for center style based learning, and my assistant and I often pull small groups for instruction, games, and projects. We often move ourselves and materials into centers with students to work with them where they prefer, and collect the appropriate data on their progress. We are in need of portable devices that allow us to instruct students, document their progress in Teaching Strategies, and take photos for parent communication. Having these devices will allow us to give accurate realtime notes along with photographic evidence, transfer notes at the touch of a button, as well as give more detailed information and evidences while conferencing with parents. Additionally, we can take learning activities with us from center to center to work with students where they are, saving us time and allowing our students to not feel like they are being pulled away from their preferred place to work. I am requesting funding for 2 iPads with their protective accessories. This will allow both my Teacher Assistant, and I to more actively document the growth of students, and work with them using this technology right where they are at. This will of course save us time, make data collection easier, give us the opportunity to spend more time engaged with our students, and teach them how to use this technology while providing developmentally appropriate learning activities.
