As we embark on a new school year filled with so much uncertainty and shadowed by an ever-changing rule book based on the pandemic spikes, I am tasked with keeping middle school students engaged in daily lessons through distance learning. Did I mention we are a low socioeconomic community? That pretty much translates to archaic technology. The materials I am requesting, a web cam, microphone system, and lighting, will help me create a better interactive experience for students so that the lessons are not so drab. Lighting, sound, and better overall visuals are important factors when trying to hold the attention of over 120 different thirteen-year-olds. I'm hoping to interact with students as much as I can and try to make this experience as "normal" as I can. It will be more difficult than usual to form positive relationships and bonds through distance learning, but upgrading the camera, sound, lighting, etc., will help to achieve these goals. The more engaged the students are, the quicker we form relationships as a class. (I've also requested a gift card to help with any unforseen expenses.)
