  • Piggybacking on a Previous Project for STEAM for SPED Kids

    Funded Jan 4, 2025

This event was not quite the turnout that I had anticipated due to sports, being right after an event and right before Spring Break. For those who attended I believe they were able to explore, create, and engineer their ideas and had a great time. For the students who were not able to attend, they really have enjoyed building and learning about circuits and chemical reactions (the two favorite things) and will continue to use these things. Thank you so much for helping me to introduce these STEAM activities to my students in the classroom as well as in our school!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Roberts

  • "Virtually" Every Way to Read and on Many Levels

    Funded Mar 3, 2021

Thank you so much for your donations and for helping me fund my project! These tablets and the subscription will be so beneficial with our students coming back. I can't wait to give them more selections to read from and on so many different reading levels. This has been such a difficult year for my students I know this small addition to the classroom will make a big impact! Thank you!!!”

  • Teacher Seeking Reading Resources For SPED Students

    Funded Aug 7, 2020

I have not been able to really use these materials as much as I had hoped due to COVID school closures, virtual learning, and now hybrid instruction for a small percentage of my students. These have been great to use with my smart tv and the kids love to be able to use the board and change out letters when spelling words. I know that this resource will be a great quick activity to do with my students when reviewing spelling skills and for quick checks. Thank you so much for contributing to my projects!”

  • Weeble Wobble!

    Funded Aug 21, 2019

The Wobble Stools have been a great option for my SPED classroom as they provide my students with the ability to Wobble when we are in groups. Because the chairs take up so much space at the kidney-shaped table we were not able to have as many kids in a group. NOW we are about to seat 5-7 students around the table at a time. We have learned some lessons with the stools such as some students just can't sit in them (they randomly fall off) and some students wobble SO much it is a distraction. I kept a few regular chairs in the classroom for this exact reason, but the wobble stools allow my students to have flexible seating during instruction, testing, and learning. Since this was my first Donors Choose I accidentally added a printer (random I know) and a Chair for me (the exercise ball on wheels). These have been amazing additions to my room as the Core Seat (my chair) is so comfortable. The printer has been so helpful to be able to print in my room and not have to send confidential IEP reports to a printer in the school and hope it does not get picked up with another print job.

THANK YOU SO MUCH for fulfilling my first Donors Choose Project!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Roberts

I am hoping to add wobble stools to my classroom to be able to work with more students in small groups. The chairs in my current room are wide and make it difficult for students to sit around the table without the chair legs catching each other. As it is now, three can sit around the table, and it would be nice if I could fit six. Wobble stools are good for students to help them stay focused while working. It also eliminates kids falling out of chairs because they don't lean back in them as they do with the chairs with four legs.
