I Saw It In The News!
Funded Aug 9, 2023Thank you so much for supporting my students in their quest to learn through Scholastic Magazines! Each year, this proves to be one of the most exciting times of our days. The students enjoy bringing their magazines home and sharing their learning with their families.
I can't wait to begin investigating the magazines with my students and seeing things through their eyes!”

Funded Sep 25, 2022I just wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you for donating to this project. This is probably to toughest but most gratifying career I have ever had. The down side is that it doesn't pay well. Your donation and kindness was beyond a bonus.
I have been able to complete my lesson plans weekly, look up information, write reports , complete my report cards and keep my grade book, all because of your kindness.
The computers that are provided at school are dinosaurs and make this job very difficult. I am lucky to say I am not experiencing the same problems my coworkers are. This is all thanks to you. Room 100 is making gains and on top of their game.”

Ms. Lynch
Fun with Phonics!
Funded Sep 16, 2022Room 100 wanted to take this opportunity to say thankyou for donating to this project. When the supplies arrived we unveiled each item as if it were Christmas.
We have been so busy working in small groups that the day just flies by and our students are sad to go home. This project has really helped with our phonemic awareness, sight word knowledge and fluency.
The students know that you have invested in their future and how important it is to say thank you. We work every day using these supplies and these kids are learning to read.”

Funded Aug 22, 2022We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you very much for donating to this project. We have been very busy learning how to read. These magazines are just the best gift. They give my students an opportunity to work on vocabulary and fluency skills.
My students look forward every week to participate in our current events lesson. These magazines are perfect for meaningful conversations and enhancing student discourse.
The best part is being able to discuss you and how a complete stranger cares about them and wants to invest in their future.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Lynch
Sit and Work With Me!
Funded Nov 30, 2022Thank you so much for your generosity to this project! This table will allow me to work with at least two more students than I can currently accommodate at my small group table! My students make steady progress when they are given more opportunities to have small group instruction. Thank you so much for your support!”

Funded Apr 7, 2022This new listening center has created big excitement in my classroom, as students look forward to the coveted time of day when they can gather with friends to listen to stories. This has been exceptionally important for my English Language Learners, and is helping them to grow their language skills.
The accompanying phonics activities and tools are helping me to build my students skills. They are already showing progress and growth in areas of phonological awareness. A number of my students are already able to read simple CVC words, and soon they will be blending multiple sounds together!
These hands-on tools are so important for my students' engagement. They build excitement and provide learning opportunities we would not have had the opportunity to engage in.
I cannot thank you enough for your generosity and kindness!”

Funded Nov 4, 2021Our new classroom rug has been such a pleasure to have! It has brightened up our room and given us a comfortable and welcoming place to sit.
We gather on the rug during numerous times throughout the day. We enjoy all of our read alouds on the rug, and it is where we often come together for classroom discussions, various lessons, and opportunities to share as a school family.
When our custodian delivered the new rug to our classroom, the excitement was electric! I had told the children that there was a big surprise coming, and that some friends had generously gotten us a gift for our classroom. When this huge rug arrived they cheered and screamed! We unrolled the rug together and set up this new area of our room.
Everyone is so happy to have a clean and comfortable place to sit throughout the day.
We cannot thank you enough for your kindness and generosity!”

Quenching A Thirst for Knowledge Through Magazines!
Funded Aug 18, 2021I can't thank everyone enough for the generous donations which funded my Scholastic News Magazine project!
These magazines have provided the opportunity to expose my students to additional types of reading materials, whereby they can make connections to family members they may see reading magazines, and people in their communities enjoying magazines at places such as doctors offices, or even at a salon. Exposing early readers to many different types of reading materials only helps to foster the love of reading and in-turn, build life long curious learners and readers. The non-fiction genre of the magazines has sparked some interesting conversations and has generated many great "I wonder" questions.
In our classroom, reading looks different during different times of the day, and for different students. Some students are building on their phonemic awareness they came to first grade with, while some students need a bit more support before they can read independently. However that doesn't slow us down at all! Reading is also looking at pictures / illustrations, and making inferences about what is happening. Regardless of the level of skill, ALL of my students love holding reading materials and books! They love exploring and making their way from cover to cover. Independent reading time is a coveted time in my classroom.
I honestly have to say, that all of my students become excited when I tell them we have a new magazine to read! In particular, a little boy, initials 'JV', seen by himself intently working on the back of his magazine, LOVES these lessons! He will always say with such joy - "oh, yay! I love these magazines"! He just simply loves learning new things - I call him a little sponge. This is no small feat for JV as he is an English Language Learner and is only exposed to Spanish at home. He really does soak up everything and anything I share with him. Today, while working on our holiday issue, he told me - "I'm going to take this home and read it to my mom, because she wants to learn English, you know". I love this!
Thank you so much for sparking joy and curiosity in my first graders!”

Funded Apr 1, 2016I can't thank you enough for this generous donation of jump ropes! I finally have enough of something that I can use OUTSIDE, so that all of my students have the opportunity to participate in a fun activity that gets their blood pumping! It is crucial to my students success that they have opportunities to get physical and move. Unfortunately, like so many other schools, our school has a limited time in our daily schedule for outside activities. We also face an added disadvantage because our school does not have a gymnasium or even and outdoor playground. We as educators understand the importance of physical activities for young learners, and work hard to build in brain breaks within our classrooms. However nothing can replace good old fashioned active play. Again, I truly appreciate your generosity, and I want you to know that I think of you every time I take my students outside to use the jump ropes!”

Ms. Lynch
We Are Smarter Together When We Explore Fossils
Funded Nov 11, 2015Because of YOUR generosity, my students and neighboring classrooms, have been able to investigate, and dive deep into the world of fossils! I have been sharing the materials with TWO other classrooms, so your generosity has actually spread even further than you may have originally thought. Approximately seventy-five first graders have had the opportunity to work with fossils close up, and take a peek into the world which existed so many years ago!
I can't thank you enough for supporting this project! It gave my students the opportunity to experience something they normally wouldn't get to learn about. These resources are simply not in our school budget and you made this happen!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Lynch
