As kindergartners, my students are emergent readers and are very excited about the idea of becoming fluent. Having a quiet and organized library where their text options are displayed will help them to see, choose, and read the appropriate level text. It will also reduce the amount of time it takes to find a book and allow for more time to be spent on actual reading. With so many new math skills being introduced at the kindergarten level, my students participate in math centers on a daily basis. This is where they work on their skills using manipulatives and STEM-related materials. If the students had an organized shelving system where the centers were labeled and easily located, it will allow more time to be spent on working rather than locating materials. Also, it will allow for more math centers to be added with all of the available storage.
