I want the Library book collection to reflect the diversity of the student body. These titles and/or authors reflect a variety of cultures/ ethnicities/communities- Chinese, Native American, Japanese, Black/African American, Dominican Republican, Hispanic, Indian (Asian), Brazilian, Filipino, LBGTQ, Deaf, Foster youth. It is very important for students to both see themselves in books and be exposed to other cultures/ ethnicities /communities in books. These stories are appealing and eye-catching. The students will be drawn to them and be excited to read them. Student literacy will improve which is a major education goal for our school. The books will be available for class checkouts as reading alouds and individual check out both in-person and remote. Both students and I will create book talk videos to further promote these engaging titles.
