  • Cooking Up Reading in the Library

    Funded Jan 24, 2024

Thank you for donating to "Cooking Up Reading in the Library!" I cannot keep the cookbooks on the shelves in our library. Often the cookbooks are put on hold, so the next student is able to check out the cookbook of their choice.

The students were so excited when I put out the new cookbooks that by the end of the first day all of the cookbooks were checked out. Students were talking about what recipes they would like to make with their families.

Again, thank you so much for donating to this project and helping me bring cookbooks into our school's library.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cobb

  • Poetry in Motion

    Funded Nov 28, 2023

Thank you for your donation to help bring more poetry into our library. The books that were purchased have been checked out several times by students in our school. Students who have been checking out these books are often students who have not checked out poetry books.

The art teacher and I are already planning a unit together that will introduce poetry to our fourth graders. I am excited to share the poetry books purchased through your donation along with other poetry books we have in the library. Your donations made our collaboration a reality!

Thank you once again for your generous donations!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cobb

  • Lego Time!

    Funded Nov 17, 2023

Thank you very much for donating to this project that helped to bring more Legos into our school's library. The students were very engaged in creating projects using the new Legos. The excitement to be able to participate in a different type of STEM activity in the library allowed students to create and build projects that they were able to create individually or with a partner.

I am planning on bringing more STEM activities to our library using the Legos with all of my grade levels. This means that about 850 students in grades kindergarten through fourth grade will have the opportunity to participate in STEM activities where they can create and build all because donors helped to provide resources that our library would not otherwise have.

Again, thank you for generous donation to our school's library.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cobb

  • The Colorful World of Eric Carle

    Funded Sep 13, 2023

Thank you very much for your generous donations to our school's library collection. Many of our Eric Carle books had seen better days, and this project allowed the library to update our worn out copies with new books. We were also able to add titles to our library collection that were missing.

The students are very excited to be able to check out new books. The book The Very Lonely Firefly has already become a big hit with the students! They are absolutely delighted when the fireflies at the end of the book blink on and off.

Thank you once again for donating to projects like this that will benefit the entire school!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cobb

  • Book Nook

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

I would like to extend my thanks to all of the individuals who donated to my project. The funding of this project allowed me to complete the reading nook in our school's library. I have been working all year to update the look of our library to make it more inviting to the students who attend our school.

The students in our building throughly enjoy using the new couches in our library. They are used daily by students after they check out their library books. It is always a rush for the students to be the first ones to the new seating area in order to read and talk about books with their friends.

Again, thank you very much for donating to my library project.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cobb

  • Lego STEM Fun!

    Funded Aug 10, 2022

The students at our school are enjoying the new STEM kits. Currently a fourth grade class is using the STEM kits. They were very excited to be the first class to use the new Lego STEM kits. Students who are often hard to motivate became the leaders as the teams started to build their projects.

When I first pulled out the kits and informed the students that they were going to be using the kits to design STEM projects of their choice, they were so excited. They couldn't wait to break into teams and start building. One kit required the Lego website as it included motors. The students were excited to use the website. The next time we use the kits, the students can switch so they can also build a project using a motor.

I am hoping that by using the kits other teachers will see what we are doing. My goal is to have classroom teachers check out the kits through our library and use them in their classrooms. Thank you again for donating to my Donors Choose project. It is greatly appreciated!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cobb

  • Cozy, Comfortable Book Nook

    Funded Jul 1, 2022

Thank you for donating to my project. Because of donations like yours, I was able to begin adding flexible furniture to our school's library. Over 800 students will be able to use the couches and flex chairs to read books in a comfortable space.

The students have greatly enjoyed having the option to read on the couch and other flex seating in the library. They can't wait to check out books, so they can enjoy the new spaces in our school's library.

Thank you, again, for helping to bring this project to life! The amount of joy it has brought to the students in my building has been overwhelming in its positivity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cobb

  • Teaching Technology Through Literature

    Funded May 3, 2022

Thank you to Amplify for helping me purchase resources to help teach safety online, technology skills, and more by using literature. These resources will benefit over 800 students in my building.

The resources purchased will enhance the learning experience of students who attend class in the media center. By using literature to jumpstart lessons, I am hoping to capture the attention of the learners in my classroom.

Thank you again to Amplify for providing me with a gift card code that I could use on a project to help the students in my building.”

  • Enhancing Student Learning

    Funded Feb 1, 2022

Thank you for donating to my project. With help from Amplify, I was able to order resources through Teachers Pay Teachers. By using the gift card that was funded through Donors Choose, I was able to purchase digital resources to use with my classroom.

Being able to purchase resources to improve my lessons is beneficial to all the students in my classroom. The resources purchased enhanced my Iditarod Unit and Titanic Unit. These units are a class favorite every year!

Thank you again to Amplify for helping me purchase digital resources for my class.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cobb

  • Shocking Electricity!

    Funded Jan 7, 2022

The resources provided with this project helped to bring hands-on experience while learning about electricity. The students were so excited to know that each of them would be given their own kits in order to explore circuits. Being able to teach science with hands-on resources helps students better understand science concepts. Projects such as this, help students become interested in STEM.

While this year's class was able to enjoy using these resources, future students will also have access to the the many of resources purchased. Thank you again for helping to bring a STEM project to my classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Cobb
