My students live in the desert and many have never traveled beyond "the sand curtain." They are inquisitive and fun loving. They are embracing science along with me in my first year as a science teacher. They are passionate to know how things work and why phenomena happen. I hope that many will be the first in their families to go to college someday, or the first in their family who studies sciences at the collegiate level.
