Infuse Movement Into Our Day
Funded Sep 16, 2016Thank you so much for your generous contribution to our classroom project. We have literally turned our classroom into a life sized game board.
Students are hopping, skipping, and jumping their way through math lessons. They are rolling movement dice and rotating around the classroom along the colorful multi-shaped mats. On rainy days students no longer have an excuse to sit on the computer. They are up and moving around playing games like bowling and ring toss.
Not only are students healthier with the extra 60 plus minutes of movement we have been incorporating in our day, but they are more focused and engaged during our lessons.
Thank you so much!”

Funded Aug 22, 2016Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart. The classroom mailboxes have been a blessing. They arrived just in time, right at the beginning of our school year. I was able to set them up and label them before students arrived on the first day of school.
It is wonderful that we can now have a classroom committee in charge of organizing the mail that comes in and out of our classroom. These mailboxes have been a great tool to keep our mail organized. They have helped us to increase our communication from school to home. Students have also become more independent and responsible for making sure that they get their mail at the end of each day and bring it home.
Thank you again!”

Mrs. Jasewicz
Spark Student Engagement with Scholastic News
Funded Aug 25, 2016Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom. Thanks to you, my fourth graders have been blessed with individual copies of the fourth grade edition of Scholastic News.
These colorful newspapers have been the perfect addition to our language arts block. I love how they help us integrate current news that is of interest to students. They have been using these to identify nonfiction text features, to determine main idea and supporting details, and to find evidence within the text to support their thinking.
I can't wait to use these for even more comprehension lessons throughout the school year!
Thank you again!”

Funded Mar 14, 2016Thank you so much for the classroom stools. Students cheered when they arrived in the mail and we set them up immediately. We have been mostly using the stools at our small group instruction table.
The stools are light weight and are easy to move around the classroom. Students have been using the stools when we meet on the carpet, when they work with partners, or sometimes when they need a quiet and independent spot to work. They can easily move the stools around the room to a place that best fits their needs at that specific time. It is nice that students now have a variety of seat choices in the classroom.
Thank you again for your generous donation of classroom stools to our classroom.”

Funded Mar 9, 2016Thank you again for your kind and generous donations to our classroom project. The storage system for our Kindles has been a life saver. It keeps our Kindles charged and organized throughout the day so that they are easy to access and super accessible.
Students can easily plug in their Kindle when they are done using it and there is a nice little spot for the Kindle to sit as it charges. There is also a place for them to hang up their headphones so that the wires don't get all tangled.
Thank you again! You have made our classroom management a million times easier to manage!”

Organize Our Oasis - A New Reading Nook
Funded Mar 10, 2016Students have been extremely excited to construct the bookshelves and organize our rainbow reading nook. Our student run beautification committee teamed up with our classroom librarians and classroom helpers to create a beautiful reading oasis that all students can love and enjoy.
The bookshelves we received are sturdy, strong, and the perfect size for our classroom library. Not only is our classroom library extremely well organized, but it is also a beautiful centerpiece in our classroom. The white bookshelves in combination with the rainbow colored book bins really pop and coincide with our student selected classroom rainbow theme.
Thank you again for your generous donation to our classroom project!”

Funded Mar 9, 2016Students have been extremely excited to organize our rainbow reading nook. Our student run beautification committee teamed up with our classroom librarians and classroom helpers to create a beautiful reading oasis that all students can love and enjoy.
Students worked together to organize our classroom books into categories such as genre, series, favorite author, and various topics. They color coordinated the different categories to make it even easier for there peers to find exactly what they are looking for.

Colorize Our Classroom
Funded Mar 11, 2016Over the last few weeks, students have been actively using the art supplies that were donated to our classroom. They were excited, at first, to create a bulletin board display and paper chain decorations to coincide with our student run beautification committee's idea to have a rainbow classroom theme.
In language arts, students have been using the construction paper and wiggly eyes to make bats that contain overused words and similes that sound better.
In science, students learned about our human footprint on the Earth and created a fun hallway display using the watercolors and construction paper highlighting ways to protect our earth and leave a positive footprint.
In math, students created posters with the construction paper that displayed story/word problems on the outside and various ways to solve the problem on the inside. The students exchanged story cards with other classmates and tried solving each others problems.
Students are eager for our upcoming research project on endangered animals. They will be displaying their knowledge with a report and a display. They will have a choice to either make a poster, model, or visual display using the art supplies you have provided.
Thank you again for your generous donation. You have provided hours of excitement and engagement to our classroom. Students are extremely eager to infuse art throughout our daily schedule.”

Funded Dec 2, 2015Thank you for your kind contributions to our classroom project. Because of your generosity, our classroom has received a year subscription to Scholastic News. Each student has been receiving weekly copies of the 4th Grade Level Scholastic News. Students love the timely and engaging news articles that appear in each issue.
The pictures I posted show students determining text structures found within their new issue of Scholastic News. They also teamed up with other students to form a small group and asked and answered text based questions about each article. They loved the color photographs and the variety of topics that they were exposed to in their issue.
I loved the online version that I was able to project for students to see during our whole group lesson. I was easily able to model my thinking while using Scholastic's tools to zoom in and highlight text-based evidence within the article.
Scholastic News is proving to be a wonderful classroom resource that can be used multiple ways throughout the day. Thank you again!”

Empowering Scientists Through Literature
Funded Nov 21, 2014Thank you so much for donating these amazing science books to our classroom. The moment the box arrived in our classroom my students faces lit up and they begged me to open it immediately.
Students were excited to add this new collection of science literature to our classroom library. It is extremely helpful to have extra literature that aligns with our new English Language Arts Modules as well as our science curriculum in fourth grade.
Students have been enjoying these books during read aloud time as well as during independent reading and centers.
Thank you again for enhancing our classroom library!”
