Dino Day
Funded May 17, 2022Our DINO themed day was sooo much fun! Students entered the decorated classroom and were greated by their teacher wearing a fun dinosaur riding costume. They read and wrote about dinosaurs and really got into the dinosaur mood with all the dinosaur themed decorations. They reviewed for their NYS Science Test by answering science questions and playing dinsaur themed games during our center rotations. It was so amazing to see learning come alive for them with this fun theme. I know this will be a day they always remember.”

The Floor is Lava
Funded May 17, 2022Students had a blast with our The Floor is Lava themed day. They reviewed for their NYS Science Test by answering short response questions to earn each component needed to make their volcano explode. They practiced multiple choice questions while they balanced on top of different elements to avoid the lava on the floor. We set up obstacle courses that they navigated while solving math problems. We read and wrote about volcanoes. Our whole day was filled with so much fun and excitement. I know students will remember this day for a lifetime!”

All About Reading - Level 4
Funded Nov 30, 2021Students absolutely adore our All About Reading lessons. They were super excited when our new box arrived with additional resources. With the addition of Level 4, I have been able to add on more of these reading groups to our rotation based on student ability levels.
We have been using All About Reading lessons alongside of Guided Reading to incoporate more phonics and phonemic awareness into our reading block.
I have seen huge gains in students decoding abilities since the implementation of this program.
Thank you for donating to our classroom project!”

Funded Nov 13, 2021Our class store has been by far the students favorite item in our classroom. They are so engaged and motivated throughout the day when they have the chance to earn money and/or tickets to shop in our store.
These prizes have improved student behavior, increased work production, and added a lot of excitement into our day.
We have been using our class store as a pathway to learning about economy, supply and demand, wants and needs and other economic concepts. In math, they have been adding and subtracting, making change, and solving real world problems.
Thank you for helping keep our store shelves stocked.”

Whiteboard Markers
Funded Sep 15, 2021Whiteboards are a hot commodity in our classroom. We go through so many, it's crazy. We use our whiteboard markers when solving problems on our individual whiteboards or the larger whiteboards around the classroom. They help us try our challenging problems individually, with partners, or in small groups. Students love using them much more than pencil and paper. They are much more economical and are easy to use.
I love being able to easily replace a broken or dried out whiteboard maker. This supply has made that possible. Learning doesn't have to pause to find a new one, students know just where to go to get one.
Thank you for thinking of our class.”

Spark Student Engagement with Scholastic Storyworks
Funded Aug 24, 2021Students have been enjoying their individual copies of Scholastic Storyworks. It is such a treat when they arrive in our classroom mail. Students constantly ask if they can check my mail in the office to see if a new edition has arrived.
It is great to have a copy of the test for each child so they can read aloud, mark up the text, and then bring it home to share with their families. The stories in each edition are fun and engaging. They are relevant to students and of high interest.
Thank you for thinking of our classroom!”

Funded Aug 24, 2021These math manipulatives, games, and activity ideas have truly transformed our small group math instruction. Students are eager to play and work hard solving tricky math problems using manipultatives to help make the problems concrete. They enjoy working with their team and with their partners. This hands-on approach has worked miracles in our classroom.
I have seen such great progress in our math instruction with the addition of this math manipulative kit and students are eager to join in and solve problems they previously didn't think they could.
Thank you for thinking of our classroom!”

Funded Aug 24, 2021Students have been LOVING their individual copies of Scholastic News. They look forward to getting a new edition each and every week.
We have been learning about current events while looking for text features, discussing text structures, and determining the main idea and details of different articles.
Students have enjoyed reading and discussing these independently, in pairs, and as a whole class.
Thank you for helping integrate social studies, science, and language arts each and every week!”

Restock Our Classroom Store Shelves
Funded Oct 5, 2021Students have been eager to earn money each and every day and to spend it on these amazing prizes. They have been thrilled to stock the shelves of our classroom store. These prizes have encouraged students to work hard, try their best, be respectful, responsible, and safe. I have seen a huge increase in work ethic all throughout the school day. The best part is, they are learning about financial literacy, problem solving, and practicing important math skills each and every day...without even realizing it.
Thank you so much for your generous donations! You have helped make our classroom economy come to life!”
