  • iPad for Second Grade

    Funded Sep 12, 2016

Thank you so much for your donation. The iPad has changed my 2nd grade classroom into a technology friendly room. These children love technology and now have the chance to learn with the use of a brand new iPad. My students benefit from using this iPad in many ways. My ELL students are learning the alphabet and putting together new words as well as sentences. My struggling readers are listening to phonics and getting interventions as well. This has really brought a difference into my classroom and will continue in the future.

Thank you for believing in our children and their education. If everyone has this faith, the education system will thrive and our students will forever be on top. Thanks again for supporting my second grade classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jarema

  • Sharpen Our Writing

    Funded Jun 30, 2016

    Dear Donors,

Thank you very much for funding our project and allowing our 2016 school year to start off on the right path. I have a wonderful group of second grade students who are excited about writing! Thanks to all of you we had a great start to a new school year. The second graders could come in and sharpen their pencils right away so the day could begin. We are able to write and if our pencil point brakes then there is no problem. We go up and sharpen a pencil. This makes a big difference. Again, thank you for being so kind. These second graders have learned that others do care about them, even if they do not know them. Thank you so much for your donation and supporting the future of our country. You have truly made a difference in our lives!”

  • Books To Read And Clean Rug To Sit On

    Funded Jul 6, 2016

    Dear Donors,

What a difference these books have made in our classroom! My Spanish speaking students are loving them. They have the English version on one side and the Spanish version on the other. They are so happy to be able to read some books in their own language. The new carpet cleaner has also caused wonders. We are now able to sit on a clean rug and keep it clean. The children are sharing the jobs doing this of course and they are loving it. Thank you for making this all possible and starting our school year in the right direction. These will be used for many years to come.”

  • Interactive Books Please!

    Funded Mar 1, 2016

Wow! That is what I am thinking right now. My students have made such an improvement in reading and writing. Thank you so much for supporting my second graders and getting them move. It is amazing to see these 8 year old grow. They are really the most wonderful group I have ever meat. They are so thankful and appreciate everything. I have seen one of my students jump five levels because of the books and working with them daily. He listens to sounds and makes sure everyone repeats after him. • Interactive Books For Second Graders!

    Funded Feb 4, 2016

Thank you so much for your recent donation. The interactive books purchased have been used everyday. They are even being sent home with a different child everyday. The children love them so much and are working really hard to practice their reading. It has been a blessing in disguise. We are so fortunate to have you and I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Decatur is so lucky to have you as a part of our team. My students love practicing their letters and their sight words sounds, especially the level one ESL students. May god bless you for all you have done.”

  • We Are Hot! In Need of Fans!

    Funded Jul 22, 2015

First, I wanted to thank you again for your generous donation. The fans have been distributed among the building and many teachers now have fans. It has been cooler in the classroom and the students are able to think. The students who were not able to cool down quick enough, were so appreciative. Even on the hottest days in September, the students were successful, thanks to the extra breeze. It has been a wonderful experience working with you and I thank you for all your kindness and hard work. These students appreciate all you have done for them. Happy Holidays!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Jarema

I teach second grade in a very low income school where all the children receive free lunches. We are a Title One school and most of the children are raised by grandparents or live in foster homes. All these students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds. Over 99% of the student body is eligible for free lunch and over 99% receive public assistance. These factors come together and place our children at a huge disadvantage, but we are committed to providing these students with a rigorous academic program.
