Refresh Our Bodies and Minds!
Funded Feb 18, 2025I want to personally thank you for the support and supplies we received this last semester. My students number one question besides whatare we are doing today, is " Mr do you have any snacks, I didnt eat breakfast."
How can they focus on learning when all they focus on is how hungry they are. The snacks, the drinks, and the supplies given this year were a huge boost to them emotionally and academically, and we all thank you for your support. The second semester was refreshing bith for bodies and for their minds and we thank you.”

Funded Sep 21, 2022Thank you so much for allowing my students the opportuntiy to participate in your generous support. The supplies you allowed us to get came in so great this last semester. Students who struggle with getting here on time, and getting a good breakfast, could take advantage of the snacks that I had. When students have food in their bodies, their minds will be ready to engage. I also thank you for the actual class supplies, they will be used for projects, and fun activities to help engage my students and stretch their learning. This was a great semester and it was in part because of the generous support from you, so Thank you!”

Mr. Wright

Funded Aug 22, 2022I want to thank you so much for your help with funding this project of supplies and snacks. My students have benefited greatly this last semester from your kindness. There were so many times I had a student come to me and ask if they could have one of the snacks since they didn't eat breakfast, or were having a headache and needed a water bottle to drink. Because I shared with the kids all the items we had and told them upfront how I got them, they were respectful of everyone so they didn't take advantage of the snacks, but at the same time always knew no matter what time of day, that Mr wright would welcome them in and offer them something to eat and drink. Students were more engaged in lessons, and felt more comfortable on assesemnts becasue they had the nurishment and recharge they needed. Thank you again for your support of my students, and my classroom.”

Funded Mar 11, 2022during testing this year students were in my room a lot longer and nto given the breaks needed to get snacks or lunch. Having the water, snacks, and treats, helped give the kids the fuel they needed to be successful on their testing and also re charged for the duration of the testing. When students come up to me and ask for a water bottle, or to have a granola bar, it makes me feel good helping them not just academically, but giving them fuel they need to be successful in the class. I had one girl say" I look forward to coming to class because I know I can always count on getting breakfast." I am so grateful for your support and help feeding my students, we have the supplies to make it through the end of the year. Thank you again for all your support and donations, myself, and my students appreciate it.”

Funded Dec 13, 2021Thank you so much for helping my students get alternative seating or what I like to call, flex seats. Some of my students are large, and tall and the traditional old school desks just don't work for them. Also, sitting all day creates other issues that prevent students from participating in class, and from giving it their all. Thank you for the seating and for the new leather chair for me to allow students a different choice. With the new seats and new layout of the class, my students are more engaged and willing to learn.”

Funded Nov 25, 2021When my students saw all the boxes we got to open they were shocked at first, but were exctied to open and see all the items they recieved. When we got 4 cases of water the kids first response was " good becasue the school water is gross". Then we got snacks that I said would be used for review games, and for those who did not get lunch, I was always willing to give them some type of nurishment.
When a student comes to class and thinking of food, they are not likely to learn, and many of ourstudents fall into that category. I am so grateful for the kindness of others who wish to help me provide my students with items that will improve their learning, and resfresh their bodies. Thank you so much Donor's Choose and all those who supported us.”

Funded Aug 10, 2020Having high quality sound helps bring alive the stories we are learning in history. Imagine watching a war movie with no or very little sound and jsut sub titles, not the ideal situation. Now my students can get the experience it was meant to have. Many of the students are so excited about the charging stations, and the headphones when they forget theirs.
I like seeing students get excited when the stories jump off the screen, it shows they are getting invested in the material.
Students who are visual learners love the new tehnology to help them learn. Having to relay on closed captions was difficult and now they can get the true impact of the war or stories of holocaust. Thank you my students are so grateful for the new epuipment.”

Funded Sep 30, 2020I want to thank you for the donations of books that were so desperately needed in our classroom. I chose books that are relevant to hostorical content the students will be covering this year, and that would be both entertaining and engaging academically at the same time. Students will be able to use these books as a reference for researching topics they find interesting, and wnat to know more about. They will also be able to compare primary and secondary sources and why they are necessary when defending a claim.
On wednesdays is are warrior day, like a study hall/ work independantly, and students can read those books while working on thier research topics. I have take paragraphs from several books and copied them into our online learning platform, Canvas, and the students can read them on their own, or they can have the tet read to them online. By having access to these additional resources, students are engaging int he content at a level they wouldnot have done without.
I have many students who English is their second language, and so having these books and the ability to read to hear the words, allows them to grasp concepts at same level as other kids.”

Funded Aug 14, 2019The students and I have been using the supplies I purchased with your donation for many projects and class assignments. As you can see from the pictures, students are using the notebooks for note taking and keeping organized with the pocket folders between each subject. The Three Branches of Government project was a fold-able that the students used the pens, markers, colored pencils, and highlighters to complete and make colorful and eye catching. This assignment is always fun and engaging to help the students understand the Three Branches of Government, and the art supplies really helped the project to come alive and engage the kids.
When I first unloaded all the boxes many of the kids were pretty shocked at how much stuff I got, and what we could use them for. When I told them why I got them and how I got them they were even more excited to know that people outside of our neighborhood support them in their learning. My 8th grade students were more expressive than the 7th graders, but both classes gave a consensus that " this is better than Christmas, because I can use this everyday." I am not sure it is better than Christmas, but to kids of poor low income neighborhoods, many are just glad to have what they need now to be successful, so thank you.
I am going to be doing a Civic Engagement project where the students will need to stay organized using their notebooks to keep data tables, and highlight conversations with city and state leaders. If you would like pictures of finished projects feel free to reach out to me and I will send more pictures as we are working, and when we finish our new projects. Not having to buy the supplies for the students has eased a burden and now I can do more fun and engaging lessons, and projects, a huge thank you and hope you continue to support my projects in the future.”
