The Mystery of Science
Funded Jul 15, 2016Thank you so much for donating to our classroom so we could receive Mystery Science. This website is chalked full of science experiments that help students understand things like weather, forces, and animal habitats. Science is a fun subject, but with the new learning standards they can be complicated. This website breaks it down for them. It also has videos that relate the experiments to the real world science problems. We are really excited about completing the experiments and it is because of your kind donations! Thank you”

Connect with Social Studies
Funded Oct 25, 2015Thank you so much for donating the Scholastic readers to our classrooms. It has been so nice to be able to show how some of our reading standards go into everyday reading materials. For example, we have been talking about text features and we have gone through an article and identified every text feature. Now I am seeing it them apply their learning of text features in their writing. Plus, Scholastic give extensions to their articles that have been great for those early finishers or those who want to show their parents at home what they are learning. Thank you so much for your generous donation!”

Getting Organized and Focused!
Funded Oct 25, 2015Your donation has been an amazing asset to our classroom. The kids love the space that has been designated for them to come and do a group or to gain the information to do the task. The binders have been a blessing because this is where we store all their writing. No longer are students losing their papers and are able to keep writing in them without taking the papers out and stuffing them in their desks. When I say take out your folders they get them right out and not shuffling through countless papers to find what I am asking for.
My students were so excited to see the materials and have just shown such gratitude towards receiving the materials. They treat the rug and binders with respect because they know that someone spent their hard earn money on them. They are still talking about how much easier it is to keep things organized for writing.
Thank you so much for helping us achieve a goal of organization. Slowly we are starting to understand how important it is to be organized and how much easier life is when we know where are materials are. Thank you for helping me teach this lesson.”

Getting to Know Our World
Funded Nov 17, 2014My students were so thrilled today to get their first Scholastic News. They loved learning about things like wild fires, the effects of droughts, and how the state of Missouri has a state exercise. We had a great class discussion about these topics and how these things effect them. We were also able to talk about graphs and how to read them. Finally, the part that they loved the most was the interactive website that went with the Scholastic News. I know they will go home and log in and hopefully have some good discussions with their parents.
As a teacher I have come to appreciate the extra resources that come with it like the vocabulary builders and the added graphic organizers to reinforce what we are doing in both reading and writing. When students see what we do in class is the same as what others are learning through the nation they are more likely to buy in to the lesson. Plus it helps to see that we can use the same lessons that are used in Social Studies.
Finally, my parents are thrilled and appreciative of the donations that you guys made to this project. They loved the fact that others who have no met their children were generous to contribute to their education. We hope that you enjoy the holidays and again want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your donations.”

Being Prepared!
Funded Oct 4, 2014When we received the kits I talked about the expense of how much all the supplies cost. We were able to do an estimation exercise and then I showed them the actual cost. They were taken back about the cost of the kits. Then they were even more grateful for the donation. Both safety groups were also able to learn what the purposes of the supplies are and how they could help in case of an emergency. This also opened up the discussion about bringing other community people to help learn about First Aid and CPR.
The best part for me was watching the students' faces as they were putting the kits together. They loved the fact that they were putting something together for our community safe room. Also they were putting together the backpacks for other new teachers. They see the backpacks during our drills and now they love pointing out to their friends that they put some of those together and start the discussion about safety. This has caused them to take the drills more seriously and their friends as well.
For all of those reasons I am just as grateful as my students and staff for your donation of medical supplies and batteries for our flashlights. This helps drive home how important being proactive is when preparing for an emergency.”

Social Studies with Scholastic News
Funded Sep 24, 2012Thank you so much for donating to our Scholastic News! This magazine helps us teach students about the current events and make Social Studies relevant to my students. Scholastic News also shows how the other subjects like Science, Reading, and Math can be used when teaching Social Studies. The students absolutely love the magazine and have great conversation because of it.
With your donation it helped the students who could not afford the magazine be able to receive one in class. This was a complete blessing to have in my classroom and something I look forward to having every year. Thanks again for your generous donation.”

Funded Jul 26, 2012Thank you for your generous donation of the kidney table. It is such a usable piece of furniture in our classroom. Not only do we do small groups with it, but students go back to the table to finish a project because they want a different area to work in. We also use it for when we have special lunches and to review material with a partner. It has made an instant impact on my classroom management. I really appreciate and so do my students and parents.
Not every company thinks to make a donation to a classroom, but you are definitely a company to be an example. When a business makes a donation to a classroom they help their future employees and the future workforce. Thank you for investing your money in my classroom and helping our future.”

The Flat Stanley Project
Funded Jul 24, 2012Your company has made quite an impact on my classroom and we would like to thank you. Each year I do a Flat Stanley project with me reading the book and then sending a Flat Stanley letter. This year we are able to do a book study in both classrooms with the Flat Stanley books with the students reading, answering questions in their journal, and sending their Flat Stanley letters. This becomes quite a theme unit that they talk about all year long. This project makes it relevant for them and becomes more of an intense study. That's is what is needed to make an impact on them and inspires them to become life long learners.
Thank you for donating to a worthy cause and helping my students go deeper with a project that they look forward to when they come to 3rd grade!”

Time to Get Organized!
Funded Feb 25, 2012This month has been one of the best because of my class becoming more organized, which leads to them becoming more independent in getting their resources. The storage containers have helped them to know where things are, where to put their notebooks, reading books, and portfolio items. They were excited to have these stations in place because they were not dependent on me to get all their items for them and able to access it quicker because the items are in a more permanent spot. I absolutely LOVE having more organization in the classroom. It has been a great experience to watch. They are becoming more organize themselves since there are less supplies in their desks, which is always a bonus.
Thank you again for your generous donation to my classroom. We are very appreciative of our newly acquired storage units!”

Funded Oct 3, 2011My students absolutely love the games and now are wanting more rainy days, along with being excited for FUN Fridays! I love watching their faces as they are playing games and having fun conversations. It has been nice to talk about how we need to be a good winner as well as a gracious loser. We have implemented some character lessons using the examples of the games.
When we first opened some of the games they were asking all sorts of questions about how to play games like Life, Sorry, and Jenga. While some of them were playing for the first time others were eager to share their experiences in playing these games. Having games in my room has been a fantastic motivator and wonderful way for them to spend rainy days.
We really appreciate your generosity in donating money to our classroom. We are truly blessed that has a community around the world that supports us! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Ms. Parker
