Flexible seating is a way to encourage even the most fidgety student to be able to focus! Having fun seating options in my first grade classroom will be a source of enjoyment and learning for all of my students! Flexible seating encourages students to make decisions that benefit their learning style the most! As adults, we do not like sitting in one spot all day. Our most creative ideas and focused work comes from changing positions, and being comfortable! As a six or seven year old child, this would open up new learning opportunities in a way the children have not experienced before. I want to give every one of my students the best opportunity to learn, I feel that providing flexible seating will do just that! The items that I have chosen for my project are sit spots, exercise ball chairs, wiggle cushions, and stools. These are items that help the students with focus. They are able to move their bodies while working, so that their minds can focus on the work that they need to complete! Giving students different choices of seats each day will help them make choices that best suit their needs that day. There will be options for standing, sitting, laying down, and wiggling!
