Life skills are the purpose of my class and due to a gas leak a few years ago we lost our access to a stove, oven, washer, and dryer. My students are focused on learning the skills necessary to become independent individuals. This includes caring for ourselves, learning skills to contribute to the community, and job skills. Learning how to cook for ourselves is one of the most basic life skills we can learn but we are struggling without the materials to do so. We will use these materials to learn how to cook meals and snacks for ourselves and those around us. This would help us in many learning areas including math and language.
