Decoding Is Our Goal-Part 3
Funded Apr 19, 2022Thanks so much for providing yet again for my students and classroom. We love our new Level C – Moving-A-Long from HALF-PINT KIDS. Having these new books help bring my classroom closer to having a class set for all my students.
It so important that our students have decoable text that they can sound out and not just look at the pictures to read. In the past I relied on leveled readers but these only encouraged my students to look at the pictures in the books because they couldn't decode the big words they would have in them.
Thanks again. My students are going to become super readers.”

Funded Mar 1, 2022Thanks so much for providing my students with the Blends & Ends Level B books. I didn't have enough for each of my students to have their own to read at school and then take home but now I do.
My students are loving that they can read by decoding the words in their new books. I love that they can't just look at the pictures to try to figure out the words but they have to decode each word. Each story builds from the the previous ones. We didn't get finished with all of them during school this year, so I passed them on to their summer school teacher for them to read.
Thanks again!! Just think of all the learning that you helped promote in my students.”

Funded Apr 7, 2022My students were blessed by your donation to our classroom for all these tools for reading and writing. We put our new Phoneme/Grapheme Alphabet Strips on our desks when we are writing during writers workshop. They are helpful tools to check out the different ways a sound can be written. The strips show us most ways to write each sound.
The Student Sound Wall Folders are also great tools because they have pictures of what our mouths do when we make the sounds. Having them at our desks make it easier for them to check the sounds as they tap out the sounds of the words they want to read and write.
The Phoneme/Grapheme Cards have been useful to use as I am teaching new sounds so the children can see what their mouth should look and feel like.”

Decoding Is Our Goal-Part 2
Funded Mar 8, 2022We are blessed by your kindness and helpfulness in giving us decoable books that my kindergarten students can read on their own.
We are almost finished with all the Sights and Sound books and we plan to start using the Blends and Ends soon. I am very thankful that now all of my students can have their own to use at school and also take home to read to their parents.
We recently took our books out to our new outdoor classroom to read our decoable books. They looked so big sitting there reading.
I feel that I have many more students reading and not just looking at the pictures to firgure out the words with these new books.
Thanks again donors!! We love you.”

Funded Oct 25, 2021We have been blessed by you all. Thanks so much for your generosity in helping be a part of a large multi-part project that is completed and being used.
The bench will not only be used by my kindergarten students but the entire school and community. You helped fund one bench but we had several projects up that got our school to have a total of 6 benches. The benches are for our outdoor classroom patio that is dedicated to our veterans. Our patio is under 24 hour surveillance to help prevent vadalism to the benches.
My students recently were able to read some of their decoable books on one of our warmer spring days. They loved that they all could sit down together. Each bench is sturdy and can hold several of my kindgarteners.
You have helped create a learning enviroment that will be used for years to come.”

I Want to Read and Write
Funded Oct 19, 2021I was so happy to get our Fundation Kit and Magentic Letter Tiles to use with my struggling learners to help them gain some letter and sound identification knowledge.
We have been using the tiles in large group and also during my after school tutoring. My students are able to use their own letter tiles to sound out words. They think that it is great to show off the words that they can sound out and spell.
The also like our Echo and Baby Echo owl puppets that help us write our letters correctly on the lines.
Thanks so much for your part in helping out my classroom. We love our donors!!!”

Help Us Decode
Funded Oct 11, 2021My students and I love these new books. Each week we get a new book to read and take home to read to our families. We then bring back our book and put it in our reading bag so we can read the book by ourselves or to a partner.
These Half-pint readers have been great to build my children's reading abilities because they are able to sound out the words and feel sucessful.
I feel that I have better readers this year because each of these books doesn't just follow a pattern. The children have to look at the letters in the words to sound them out. They can't just look at a picture to help them read.
I love my new book, Equipped For Reading Success by David Kilpatrick. It has given me the lessons and assessment to help my students to become better readers.
The sound wall pictures are wonderful so the children can refer to them as they are sounding out words during journal time.
Thanks so much for providing all these materials to build future readers.”

Creating Future Builders
Funded Dec 16, 2020It was the first day back after Christmas break and our package arrived. My students couldn't wait to open it up. They keep asking before Christmas when we were going to get our blocks.
We have only had them four days and they have been played with every day with several students waiting to have their turn.
My students have been building their own creations but some of them are looking at the building instructions to build. They have build barns, houses, castles, and rockets.
They all have enjoyed making the rocket and have been eager to be the student that gets to take off. The students will count down and pretend that they are taking off. One student stayed in the rocket and said he was going to the North Pole. When he got out he said he had helped Santa.
Thanks so much for providing these tools to help my students be more creative and builders. We love our donors.”

Let's Stem It!
Funded Oct 16, 2020Many, many thanks for all of our STEM resources. My students are loving each one they have had an opportunity to use during centers.
When the boxes arrived they were so excited and wanted to open them right away but we had to wait until the end of the day. By the time we opened them, they were pumped when they saw all of the items inside. They wanted to open each one right away.
Since the RemoteControl GearBot was very popular, we established a rotation so everyone would have an opportunity to build their own robot. Each child has two days to build and explore the robot and can build by themself or ask someone to help them.
I am excited that my girls are also exploring our new STEM items. Thanks to Lyda Hill Philanthropies and Sonic for making this project happen.
My next project is to acquire some Jumbo Magnetic Building Tiles. We have some small ones and my students love to create with them.
Thanks again. We love all of our donors.”
