  • People Who Helped Shape our Country

    Funded Mar 25, 2025

Being a student in third grade is a challenge for many students. Reading is a huge part of our curriculum...we go from learning to read to reading to learn. The books provided to our classroom have been a huge hit!

Many of my studnets do not have access to high quality books at home. These books about people who helped to shape our country and world have brought so much excitement and knowledge to our room. The students were so excited to choose their favorite person to learn about.

Our school has a wax museum where students learn about famous people and then they become that person in the wax museum. They were able to ignite a new flame for learning about great people in our world and how they also can make huge impacts one day.”

    With gratitude,

  • Reading Is Magical

    Funded May 7, 2024

My students absolutely love the I Survived set of books. They all were able to read a book when they finished their testing this year. Each student then used the book to create a book report to share out with the other students. These books will add such a fun reading opportunity for my students now and in the future. These books are all leveled on a 3-4th grade reading level.

Your kindness to my students has made such a big impact on my students and they in turn have been impressed upon to give to others. Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom.”

  • Making Math Magical in 3rd

    Funded Aug 25, 2023

My students are a group of eager learners. When I shared with my parents and students that we had been funded, they all were so excited for our class. My kids are mostly military kids and they move around a lot so this is a special treat for our class to have these materials. They love to work to earn Fun Friday! This is when we use our STEM materials to create projects that are tied to our stories. We also needed math manipulatives to use in our classroom so we could get more hands on learning of Fractions and Division.

The tools we received like our Fraction Bars will help us to be able to compare fractions with a visual. Our Division Dominoes help us to be able to have a visual to see how multiplication and division are related. We are using the math card games to practice our math facts fluency and quick recognition of equal fractions.

Thank you so much for providing these materials to our classroom.”

  • Coding Art Masterpieces!

    Funded Dec 5, 2022

Wow! What a great digital learning tool our new robots are for my 3rd graders. They have brought so much excitement to the classroom. My students are working so hard to learn simple basic coding steps so they can learn to write some code for Artie. We are using Artie to show other classes what we are learning about computer science. My kids absolutely are in love with our 4 robots.

We are using our robots as a tool to help us create some really cool art designs. We are sharing with our classmates next door and we are having a robot drawing challenge as a reward for our good behavior goals being met. On the 100th day of school, we are creating 100 drawings using our robots. Each group is creating 25 each.

I am so grateful for donors like you that make our classroom so much fun.”

  • Jumping Into Recess

    Funded Jan 9, 2023

I wish you could have seen those kids faces when I brought in the tubs with balls, jump ropes and the parachute! They were super excited to actually have something to play with outside on the play area. We will be using the parachute with students for some upper body strength exercises by trying to throw the balls off the parachute. Some of my boys play soccer and this gave them some really cool choices of balls to use to sharpen their soccer skills.

We still don't have any playground but we sure do have some items now that will help my students enjoy coming to school and learn about playing team sports better. Thank you so much for giving to our school. We appreciate you!”

    Mrs. Bullock

  • Touring the World Through Books!

    Funded Sep 9, 2022

In our classroom, we use our books for AR reading to help us increase our Lexile reading levels. We get to choose new books each week to take home and to use in our Read to Self time in class. When we finish reading a book, we can take an AR test. It is nice when the students can choose a book with a character that looks like them. They were excited to get the new books from our grant because we had several African American book characters and Hispanic characters.

Our classroom library is small since I have just moved to 3rd grade from 1st. I am so appreciative of your donations. We use these books for project based learning activities for the students to showcase their comprehension knowledge. They can choose to do a book report to present to the class as well. We love reading our new books!”

  • Gaming Our Way Into STEAM

    Funded Jan 17, 2019

The games we received from our "Gaming Our Way Into Steam" project have been such an exciting time in the STEAM lab. The students are so excited when I show them the games and tell them today is a game day. You may think that games are just busy work for the kids but they are totally so much more. As a group of 2nd graders played the Boggle game, I saw kids making new words and learning from classmates about more words to make that they didn't think of making. With the Scrabble Jr. game, a team of students learned about the spelling of words while engaged in a cooperative activity that was building team skills. Students were playing the BUZZ word game and had to read the cards to their competitors to get answers from clues! We have so much learning happening right here in the STEAM lab from reading, writing and critical thinking skills. Games are fun but they are also very challenging as well. We hope to ignite a fire in other classrooms as well to write a Donors Choose project to get games for their classrooms as well!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Bullock

  • STEAM Creates Amazing Opportunities

    Funded Dec 22, 2018

We are so thankful for the donors taking time to donate to our class. This is a new class this year and we are working to gather materials for our STEAM projects and activities. It was so exciting receiving the email that we had been funded. The kids really do have a huge part in the things I ask for in class.

My 2nd graders used the materials from the Lego Brick boxes to do a marble challenge. They had to brainstorm how to most effectively build the maze to get the marble to move through without getting stuck. Then they set out to build the mazes. It was such an exciting, engaged time in the classroom.

Everything we receive from Donor's Choose are items that the kids get to choose from to use and they use our flexible seating we received from Donor's Choose to sit on while they work. It makes such an impact on our classroom and the student's are always included in the process. Thank you so much for wanting to help make a difference in education!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Bullock

  • Flexible Seating Areas

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

When the new flexible seating arrived, I had it placed around the room in different center areas. When the students arrived, they were super excited to see the colorful couches and cushions. They had to take turns trying out the new seating. The kids were eager to get a book and find a comfy spot to read.

Since receiving our funding, we have been able to use the seating for our reading centers. The students are able to move the materials around the room and have a choice of seating areas. We use the materials during our STEM center time and when we work on our chrome books.

In the future, we hope to add more seating so that every child has a "choice" seat. We are working on funding for our weather station currently. Our weather station will be able to be used in our entire K-5 population. Weather is a big part of the science curriculum in K-5.”
