  • Puzzle, Ponder, and Play!

    Funded Jan 23, 2023

I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of the generous people who chose to donate to the project, "Puzzle, Ponder, and Play". The donations you sent in purchased many engaging, fun, and cooperative activities. Students began playing the games with gusto! The uno cards, checkers board, bingo game, and the cornhoe toss were instantly the the big favorites - not to mention the rubix cubes!

Students always love intermission and recess, and now they have many options regarding what to do during this unstructured time.

Again, thank you so very much.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. R.

  • Cool Down the Quad!

    Funded Aug 27, 2022

Thank you greatly for providing shade for our quad! "Cool Down the Quad" is a hit!

When the students saw the new umbrellas, they knew that the adults of the school cared enough about them to get them covered!

The beautiful blue umbrellas create a calming and cooling atmosphere for our students. They can now eat their breakfast and lunch without worries of heat or sunburn. If you could see the students munching away under the protection of the big umbrellas, you would notice big smiles in the shade!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. R.

  • Once Upon a Marigold Gold!

    Funded Aug 9, 2022

I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for your donation. The money you donated purchased a wonderfully fun and complex novel. Once Upon a Marigold will provide my students with a chance to learn about parody. We will discuss fairy tales of old, and enjoy comparing and contrasting those tales to the novel. Students will also be exposed to a full gamot of mismatched idioms - which will result in laughter and further appreciation of figurative craft. Most importantly, students will read a book that is extremely well written: plot development, setting, characterization and more!

    Thank you donors!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. R.

  • Cedar Lift

    Funded Mar 15, 2022

Thank you for the donations for the project Cedar Lift! The students were so excited when they saw the garden supplies start to appear in our classroom! They couldn't wait to get their hands on the tools and other supplies!

The students took quick advantage of the items as they worked in the many gardens on our campus. Roses were clipped using the garden shears while hands were protected from the thorns by protective gloves.

Not only did the donations help the health of our gardens, but also they helped beautify them! Especially the lovely bird bath. We thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. R.

  • Lost and Not Found

    Funded Dec 5, 2021

What a huge impact your donations made! So many of the lost items are now being found! Instead of clothes and shoes buried in a bin, lost items are now out in clear display. Warm coats and favorite sweatshirts now hang neatly on one of two racks. Students (and parents) can easily find and recover lost items. The tall shelf holds expensive water containers, empty lunch containers, and a shoe or two for rapid find and quick pickup.

What makes this whole process best of all, is now the so very busy office workers do not need to face the "puddle of lost items" and the end of every day. Now, the racks and shelves are simply wheeled into the auditorium for the night - ready to go for the next day.

    Thank you so very much!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. R.

  • A Garden Shed to Grow

    Funded Nov 11, 2021

Your donation has led to a great improvement at our school. Now our after school club, The Dirt Club, has access to the tools that they need to work in our school gardens. The shed is the perfect size. It holds our shovels, rakes, hoes, and our big broom! It also has plenty of space for the rack that was also part of the project - and which is already covered with important Dirt Club essentials! The shed is waterproof, easy to open and close, and best of all, adorable! We have a pavers leading to the door that keeps the students' feet stable as they pull tools, supplies, and gardening equipment from its interior and out into the gardens of our campus.

Bravo generous supporters! You are wonderful!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. R.

  • You Gotta See It to Green It!

    Funded Nov 1, 2021

Wow! You are amazing! Your donations enabled us to get the project goal in one day! Please know that each and every donation is greatly appreciated.

The Dirt Club kids and students from Room 40 will have a blast with the awesome items that are headed their way. We have some seeds that are just waiting for the compost. The students will have a chance to apply the compost, till the soil, and then plant the seeds! After some water and sunshine, those seeds will grow into foods that will end up on our "table"!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. R.

  • Let's Go Literature!

    Funded Oct 28, 2021

The books that you helped place into Language Arts Room 40 are absolutely wonderful! Teaching reading is easy when students love the novels that they are assigned. Many times I have had parents tell me that their child will fight reading practice at home, and then, when they are assigned a book that I've chosen, they can't get them to stop!

When the kids came in Friday and saw all of the new books stacked in front of the room, they got so excited!

Know that you have made a huge difference for each and every student in Room 40!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. R.

  • Once Upon a Marigold Gold!

    Funded Aug 4, 2021

I can't express to you how much your donation made a difference! The students LOVED reading Once Upon a Marigold. The story line was great for keeping the kids engaged, thinking, and begging for more. Many group discussions were prompted by this complex tale that were rich in various viewpoints and opinions. Not only did the students talk about this story, they also wrote about it! They compared characters, predicted outcomes, criticized actions, and more. All in all, this wonderful book, Once Upon a Marigold, was a great success - thanks to you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. R.

  • Hello Hello, Universe!

    Funded Jan 27, 2021

Thank you for your support of the purchase of the wonderful novel, Hello, Universe. My students LOVED the story. I was so relieved to look into my zoom screen and see the students' eyes on the pages of a novel instead of on the screen. We traveled through the novel - some days a few chapters, other days just one. Bottom line, the students benefited from, not only the content of the novel, but also from the ability to remove their eyes from the computer screen and place them, instead, upon the pages of this novel. Thank you so much for making this possible.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. R.

Our school is an Arts Academy and we recently created a Culinary Arts Class! What better way to start a culinary class than to build a edible garden next to it?! Our culinary garden is going to be a huge undertaking- but you will not find teachers, students, or volunteers more excited to start this hard work! We have a large area outside the culinary class that is broken into three levels. The top level will be raised veggie beds, middle level will be citrus and butterfly garden, and the lower level will be mediterranean and edible flowers. We even have an arts teacher that is going to have her students create bird houses to support the harmonious atmosphere of the garden. We want the garden to be student centered, and so we are thrilled that this garden - the raised beds, the butterfly garden, the edible flowers - will be right next to the classroom so that students can walk out the door and breath in the harmony of a beautiful, nutritious, and well maintained garden.
