Let's Go Sports Fans!
Funded Sep 21, 2016My seventh graders are using the sports equipment during recess to play games with each other as well as participate in intramurals. We spend the year learning and engaged in academic activities. It is enjoyable to see how excited the kids get to go outside and enjoy the equipment, even when the weather doesn't cooperate. The students also like to form their own teams and play against the teachers during recess.
My students are also using the basketballs, volleyballs, and soccer balls daily during recess (weather permitting). They often had too many students waiting to play so students asked for a schedule. The idea of intramurals bloomed from the idea of a schedule. The kids were excited to pick their teams and randomly play games throughout the week. Our recess schedule changed this year so it has been hard to play 7th grade vs 8th-grade games. The 7th graders have been playing against themselves and 8th grade against themselves. We will have a special May Madness between 7th and 8th-grade teams prior to graduation. The kids are looking forward to it.
I think the teachers also like having the equipment for the kids to enjoy. When the kids are interested and participating in something they like, it makes our jobs as teachers easy. We don't have the bored students disrupting the active students. Everyone seems to have a friendly competitive side and it's a motivator to talk about the games in the classroom as well. Thanks for your donations to our students. Their fun and active breaks would not have been possible without your support. Thanks for making a difference in the lives of my seventh graders.”

Hi-Ho It's Off To School We Go...With Supplies!
Funded Aug 28, 2016My seventh graders are using the supplies in class to draw and label diagrams in their notebooks. We spend the year learning about life science, specifically cells and the different processes, like mitosis and meiosis. The students draw the diagrams in their notebooks and label each part using the colored pencils. They also highlight their notebooks to help find information easily.
My students are also using the highlighters, crayons, and markers to color and label parts of the cell and work on science labs in class. They often create charts and graphs to visualize the data they collected. The diagrams help all the students draw conclusions easier and make claims to answer their scientific questions. The students are using the post-it notes to label activities, ask questions, and write notes while reading. They are also using the glue sticks to create foldable to help study for tests and quizzes.
The students in my class are having a great year and I know having these supplies to start the year was a contributing factor. We didn't have to wait until everyone brought in supplies or have students sharing supplies (reducing our time on task). We were off and going from the first week and that would not have been possible without your support. Thanks for making a difference in the lives of my seventh graders.”

Help Us Branch Out in S.T.E.M.
Funded Oct 8, 2016The outpouring of generosity to help my 7th-grade students is amazing. I know these students are wonderful and deserve the chance to succeed. Now with the donation of compasses and protractors you are going to be part of their success.
My students work best with hands-on activities and with protractors and compasses the number of activities has greatly increased.
Thank you for your donation and building the success within my classroom for my students.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Riley
