I have a classroom of 25 students, many who can be labeled as a minority, many who require special education services, many who can be labeled as English Language Learners, and many who go to homes that have very few to no books that they can read for their enjoyment. I work in a public school district that many label as 'failing,' but everyday my students fight to beat the odds and prove that they can succeed. These students come to school excited for learning, and love to get their hands on any book they can. My books are constantly borrowed to be taken home and quickly become 'well-loved.' Despite what labels are thrown at them, these students emphasize day in and day out why I love to teach so much and work so hard to make sure they succeed.
