Providing students with flexible seating options will aid in social, emotional and academic progress. First, students won't get into the habit of only seeing the room from one perspective. By rotating seats in the classroom, students get used to learning and being assessed in different locations around the room.
Having different types of seating allows students the opportunity to be excited about having a different seat to use for the week and gives students opportunities to take pride and ownership in the entire classroom and not just one spot.
Finally, students can work with all of their peers to get to know everyone in the classroom. This helps with making new friends, social norms and gaining confidence to talk in front of the class since each student will know everyone better than if there was not flexible seating.
